I was told that I’m a “double-Gemini (both the sun and the moon were in Gemini when I was born) with Pisces rising”.
A lot of people say, “Oh. That explains it!” (My personality)
But since I’m not into astrology, what the heck is my “sign” supposed to mean?
Well, Gemini is the sign of communication - geminis are supposed to be very expressive & creative. Looks like Pisces is an amiable, giving sign. The rising sign is supposed to as critical to personality as the sun sign. The moon probably indicates your “feminine” side 
I was told that some women were more influenced by the moon sign than the sun sign.
So are you a very expressive, yet easygoing person?
There are at least a dozen planets to locate, plus the relationships between the planets are supposed to also have an effect. This is how astrologist answer those nasty questions like “We’re both Leos, and we’re not a bit alike”

Note, I take this with a BIG grain of salt, but for me it actually seems to work -
Sun sign Taurus - earthy, stubborn, like pleasurable activities like eating and music
Moon sign Gemini - Communication is my leitmotif, dancing, expressive nature (venus is also in this sign)
Rising sign Aries - Driver, I am very decisive.
