What does this mean? Never saw it online before.

Here’s a link where you can see it for yourself.

https://www.einstein.yu.edu/departments/neurology/saul-korey.aspx

The “https” part is in red and slashed out, and the lock has an X on it.

Never seen this before; what does it mean? I did not have to use a password to get onto this page.

I don’t see what you’re describing. I’m using Firefox. What browser are you using?

Although if I click on the symbol to the left of the lock it says “Firefox is blocking content on this page. Most web sites will work properly even if content is blocked. Insecure content. Some unencrypted elements on this web site have been blocked.”

If you click on the lock it says “This site uses a weak security configuration (SHA-1), so your connection may not be private”. It’s just saying that any communication between you and the website may be able to be easily decoded by an outside source. This isn’t a big deal for that page since it’s not really doing anything secret.

If you click on it, it tells you what the problem is. In this case, it says:

It just means their SSL certificate isn’t set up right and there’s a (tiny) chance your connection to them isn’t very secure.

I’m on Google Chrome.

I used Firefox until a few weeks ago, when they did something that made a lot of pages all wonky.

p.s. Never occurred to me to click on that lock.

Firefox/Win10:
I get HTTPS by following your link.
