It is.
Graham simply needs a larger-than-life, dominating personality that he can glom himself onto and do their bidding. He’s the Renfield or Wormtongue of American politics.
The only logical explanation is that PAB was born with some sort of biological tasp that even he doesn’t know how to control, thank God. Lindsey and the MAGAt caucus got a taste of it and are desperate to feel it again and we see the consequences.
There are way too many Republicans who have hitchhiked onto the Trump personality cult for them all to have dreadful secrets they fear being revealed.
It’s just classic sycophancy for political benefit.
I’d say Lindsey learned his lesson well from what happened to Jeff Sessions. It only takes one misstep to bring the wrath of Trump upon you, no matter how much you kiss his ass. So Lindsey will be the first, loudest and most persistent defending Trump to make sure that he is never relegated to the dustbin of history like his old pal (Jeff who?).
Lindsey is a remora, glomming onto whoever the biggest shark is. He has no principles, ideologies, or ethical concerns.
And (irrelevant though it may be) of course he’s gayer than a barrelfull of gay monkeys. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
It does lend a certain je ne sais quoi to being a Reactionary Right Anti-LGBTQ+, anti-nonwhite, anti-nonmale, anti-f***ing everything though.
When it comes to je ne sais quoi, he out TFG’s the Master TFGer.
Remora.
Edit: I should scroll down first.
Like I said about trump’s taxes, it’s got to be worse than you think because if were only as bad as you think he’d cop to it.
I think he simply wants to be a sidekick to a very powerful and influential person. McCain served that purpose well, but then he died, so Lindsey had to find somebody else to be BFF with. Trump as president served that purpose. Graham got to be an insider with all the perks that entailed, a golfing buddy and up close and personal to what was happening. Trump losing the election again left Graham adrift without anybody to cozy up to. With Trump running again, the opportunity to resume his sidekick status to a powerful person and president again presents itself.
Again, this explains his political position, but not the tears, the anger, the immediate emotional response to Trump being attacked.
I think the tears are because he fears that Trump is going to start spilling in a desperate attempt to save his hide somehow. As if that would work.
I was in the the Army in the 80s. My dad made me sign up when I was 17 because he found out I’m bisexual and he wanted to “turn me into a man” lol There is literally TONS of gay sex between straight men in the military. It’s pretty much a time honored tradition since forever haha Even Winston Churchill talked about when he was in the navy. The second week of basic I hooked up with a straight guy. Being around that much testosterone fueled pheromones combined with how the military trains you to be totally submissive to those with higher ranks and the need for release after a hard day and also the inevitable trust and camaraderie …,it’s not a big step to give each other bro jobs or a good rogering. the military is gayer than a bathouse in San Francisco.
Also I had a female FWB who was retired from the airforce who told me of all the debauchery in her branch. She was a mechanic in Germany and…well…She had some good stories.
Moderating:
While interesting, these stories have nothing to do with the actual topic at hand. Please make sure you’re responding to the actual subject of the discussion, not hijacking a thread with what you wish to post. Thanks.
Fair enough. I was just replying to the comment about the military not being gay friendly. I’m sure Lindsey had some Grand Old Party times when he was serving the country. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!
He’s five inches taller, a better dancer, and much more fun to be with.
Who, Lindsey?
Actually, Johnny from Airplane II.
Trump has the same thing on Graham that he has on the other GOP politicians who embraced DJT after they said terrible things about him.
He won primaries, and the presidency, and they did not:
This Lindsey Graham quote perfectly explains the GOP’s codependent relationship with Trump
You can always look for individual personality characteristics to explain why Trump took over a party full of politicians who disliked him. But I think the fact that so many flip-flopped calls out for more general explanations.
