I used to really enjoy Wiseguy, but then it seems like Ken Wahl sort of flaked out when he was on top of career. When he vanished for a few years there were strange stories surrounding his absence. (i.e. that he was in a bad car wreck, but no one could ever find proof of this.)
Does anyone have the straight dope?
He got into booze and perscription pain medication. After he roughed up his wife he had problems finding word. Go figure.

How funny… I was just thinking of that show this morning, wondering if it was ever in reruns. Kevin Spacey was brilliant in that, as was William Russ.
Yeah, Sassy – “the toes knows.” I remember thinking Spacey was a great actor but not likely to have much of a career; he was just too weird. (The Psychic Hotline fired me, what can I say.)
Russ was also in my favorite Miami Vice episode, which I can’t remember the name of right now – he and Don J. sorta “clicked” in that one, IYKWIM. “Evan” – that’s the name of it!
Ken Wahl’s career probably could have survived his alcohol and drug use and spousal abuse. Other actors have certainly go on with worse. But from Hollywood’s point of view he committed a much worse sin; he put on weight.
Last I heard of him his picture was in the paper marrying one of the “Barbie” twins.
