What fat do you use to fry eggs?

I’ve settled on olive oil spray for health and clarified butter or bacon grease for taste, depending on what’s available at the time.

Butter or bacon grease.

I despise the taste of canola oil. I even complained to pepperidge farms when i bought what i expected to be a delicious cookie and it tasted of canola oil.

I’m older now, and my sense of taste may not be as sensitive.

I agree with you about corn, soybean, and sunflower oil. Also safflower oil, which is what i usually buy if i want a neutral oil.

I like olive oil to pop popcorn, (but be careful as it has a low smoke point) and to saute veggies for soup, but it doesn’t feel right with eggs, at least to my tastes.

I always cook eggs in butter. I’m sure ghee would be even better. Bacon fat would also be fine, but i almost never have it around.

How much oil do you use? If you want a Spanish-style fried egg, you need lots!

I gotta try those Spanish-style eggs. They look amazing.

I don’t care for runny yolks myself, but I do like the brown crust that forms! :hugs:

I love runny yolks, but wonder what you do with all that slightly used oil.

That’s easy. Save it for tomorrow morning’s eggs. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I’d use it to fry some potatoes and onions for a nice side dish. :hugs:

I guess i won’t cook eggs that way, then.

This is why we don’t deep fry anything. I think you need to fry stuff all the time for it to make sense. Otherwise you just end up throwing away tons of oil.

In Philippines, you use it to fry some slices of SPAM. Then saute a couple of cloves of garlic and last night’s leftover rice. Spamsilog: Breakfast of Champions!
