What fictional character are you?

On the surface I’m most easily compared to Harry Potter. I got the haircut, the glasses, pasty white skin…all I’m missing is the scar really.

As far as personality goes, I usually liken myself to Yossarian from Catch 22. I’m often doing things for reasons no one really understands or appreciates, and I’m often wondering why other people do the things they do and figure they would recognize themselves as being MAD(!) if only they were to think about their actions. I’m something of an honorable deviant.

I aspire to be like Philip Marlow.

When Wonder Years came out, I was the same age as the main characters. Everyone started calling me Paul, which irritated me but I suppose was fairly apt. I looked a fair bit like him, but didn’t have all the allergies and was somewhat less socially inept.

These days, I dunno. Hiro Protagonist, maybe.

At anime conventions, I sometimes get mistaken for a Hikaru No Go cosplayer, because the titular character and I share the same haircut.

Can you open this jar of pickles for me?

I appear to be Gil Grissom.

I wear glasses, know a lot about a nerdy subject (chess instead of entomology), like to be accurate and work on my own, don’t like politicians and (sob) am not good with the mysterious non-male half of the human race.

When I wear my black overcoat, I’ve been told I look like a hitman. A few people have said I have the ‘Ray Liotta’ thing going, but I don’t see it. Personally, I’ve always felt that I was less ‘Good Fella’ and more ‘Punisher’, but a happy ‘Punisher’ who still has his wife & kids.

I used to have a bad case of Hermione Granger. I hope to grow up to be Nanny Ogg. I have the sense of humor down pat. (I promise I’ll stay away from other peoples husbands, though.)

Antryg Windrose, from Barbara Hambly’s Windrose Chronicles. I don’t look anything like him, mind you, but his endless fountain of trivia, his slightly cracked outlook, and his intuitive leaps are features I’ve demonstrated fairly often. In my better moments, I even have a share of his daft charm.

I’ve also been compared with Garrett, from the Looking Glass Studios/Ion Storm Thief games. Just because I’m sarcastic, dress all in black, pick locks…hmm. Well, never mind that.

Bonus: After seeing the first Harry Potter movie, my niece exited the theater in a daze. After a few moments, she finally looked at us and said in a bewildered tone, “I’m Hermione.” Then she sat down abruptly. Since everyone else had recognized this from the first reading of the book, hilarity ensued.
