What fictional world would you like to see made into an MMO?

Babylon 5 Universe–but would probably work better as a war game, or maybe something like Wing Commander flying space fighters against Centauri or Shadow fighters.

I’d love to see a B5 universe war game or MMO. Either would be great. Were there ever any official B5 games?

I’ve never seen one. Did see a modification of VGA Planets that included the Shadows as a non-player race, I think, but otherwise used the traditional races for that game.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Would a flight sim keep you going?

John Carter, Warlord of Mars

Steampunk, Sword Slinging, Dejah Thoris…

(I’ll be in my bunk.)

This was my first thought.

Not according to that article they aren’t- at best, it looks like they’re hedging their bets IMHO.

There may be a Firefly MMO if the suits at Fox decide to continue development after concentrating on the Buffy MMO.

Speaking of Bablyon 5, and having just watched a certain movie trailer:

TRON

Oh, yeah.

(The Scarecrow & Mrs. King MMO can come later)

Also, if I had a kajillion dollars and had already put a lot of it to work ending world hunger, etc, I’d spend a bunch of it creating a PARANOIA MMO.

And not letting anyone (outside of the dev team obvs) know that’s what it was.

I would not object to a Malazan Book of the Fallen MMO.

This, this, this.

I would so get into a Shadowrun MMORPG. It might even pull me away from WoW if it was good enough.

Would also like to see a Harry Potter MMORPG.

I second the Shadowrun universe. There is enough flexibility in the status quo in that universe that a fresh and believable “epic badguy” threat could be included in every major patch. The classes are wildly different from each other and would not suffer as much from the class-blurring problem of overlapping abilities. Also, who doesn’t want to explore a cyberpunk metropolis?

There were some board / card games:

Brian

Hmmm…

•Riverworld might be interesting—and the environment would probably be pretty easy to render, but the sad fact is that without the major historical personalities or an over-reaching story arc, I fear there wouldn’t be a lot you could reliably do with it. Maybe I’m wrong, though.

•A good steampunk world—licensing the universe of The Difference Engine or Stirling’s The Peshawar Lancers would probably be a good way to do it, rather than start from the ground up. I’d just want to see how many varieties of moustaches would be available on the character-creation screen, if nothing else.

•Ditto for the Marvel Comics U. It’d be almost worth it alone just to go on a self-guided walking tour of Marvel Manhattan.
