I’m a fairly persistent-but-casual MMO goof. I’ll play until I’m tired of exploring, and then go on to the next one. I’ve wandered through Everquest, DAoC, Star Wars, WoW, Warhammer, and currently poking around Aion.
The mentality is pervasive enough that I’ll be reading a fictional series and think ‘Damn, this would be a great MMO’.
Right now I’m re-reading Jim Butcher’s Codex Alera series <which gets much, much better as it goes along…the first book almost lost me, but the second one caught me up into it>
I think it’d be a great playground. The various Fury powers, the varous lands and peoples…plenty of room for at least 3 playable sides, and if some developer would FINALLY come up with a way to balance temporary alliances between alternating sides, that would be even better.
Anyway…what fictional world would you like to virtually explore?
The Fallout universe (For an existing but non-MMO computer game) and something like a Generic Victorian-1930s Adventure setting (Like Indiana Jones, for example) would be pretty cool too, I think
I’ve always thought the PnP game Sla Industries would make a good MMO. It’s a dark future game on the planetwide city of Mort. You’ve alien races, various character classes and a race of spell casters that undergo a hideous metamorphosis at high levels.
The original game itself has a codified level structure for missions. Low levels start with tasks such as slaughtering carnivorous pigs in the sewer. Higher levels involve rival corporations, off-world missions and investigations into the history of Sla Industries itself
Can I choose one that got cancelled? I know it was a futile hope, but I was still hoping to play the Bastard!! MMORPG in English. Think of Heavy Metal magazine.
There is an upcoming MMO featuring the Illuminati, alongside the Triads and the Templars – The Secret World from Funcom. However, I doubt this is the Illuminati atmosphere you were interested in.
