What flavor is white?

In the Smarties packages, I think I can identify all of the flavors except the white one. When we were in preschool, my friends and I would say it was pineapple. I think we just thought we tasted pineapple though. Anyone have a clue?

pineapple flavored, as far as I remember. I do love smarties. Just open the wrapper and slide them in your mouth single file.

Pineapple. Yeah. Definitely.

I always thought it was sugar flavored.

Smarties (M+Ms, Pebbles, whatever) give me a headache. Dunno why. Never liked them.

I like Skittles, though

Smarties in the USA are small tablet shaped sour-sugar thingys, not candy coated chocolate pills.

White is diffinitely pineapple flavored.

I’ve lived in this blasted country for 34 years, and I have never, in all my life, heard of Smarties! Is this some sort of regional candy?

OK. Did some searching. Still don’t know that I’ve ever run across Smarties, but I do know that the white ones are orange cream. (BTW, the yellow ones are pineapple.)

This info is available in the FAQ of Smarties’ website. I guess I’m gonna hafta go out and find some. Apparently, I’ve missed an important part of my childhood. (Still got my Pez dispenser, though.)

Way to scope out a website, MrKnowItAll! I would never have guessed the white smarties were orange cream, let alone that green ones were strawberry (how’d they come up with that one?).

And all I have to say to you about this

is Pppppffffffttttttthhhhhhh!!!

Oh wait! Let me change that to “Smartie” Pants!

As soon as I started reading this thread, I knew some of our non-American dopers were going to be really confused!!

mega the roo, did you think the thread was talking about American chalk-like Smarties or the yummy delicious chocolate Smarties?

For those of you who have never had the experience of eating the wonderful chocolate Smarties, I highly advise trying to get some. They are delicious!! (especially the orange ones!)

A brief note to MrKnowItAll…

If you wanna find Smarties, wait 'til Halloween- all the cheap bastards hand them out!

Toonces

My reaction at first was the same as Mega the Roo’s - ‘Smarties have flavours?’ then I realized they were talking about the American Smarties, and my reaction was ‘Smarties have flavours?’ (based upon experience with similar candies up here…).

Eschew Obfuscation

Chocolate smarties do have flavours…
well, at least the orange smarties do (the ones made by Nestle)they have orange chocolate added. all the other colours are just plain chocolate.

Thank you, John! I was beginning to think I was the only one who could taste the difference between the colors in non-American Smarties! (BTW, I can taste a difference in the other flavors too, although it is subtle.)

Gee, I’m glad I asked!
