What foods does your cat go crazy over?

My little Feather is crazy for clover. She wolfs it all down when I pick some for her and bring it in. She also scarfs down carragana pods, flowers, and young leaves. I guess she wants more greens in her diet, but she won’t eat any of the vegetables that I’ve offered to her. Cats are weird, no doubt about that.

My cat will eat just about anything, but he can’t since he has kidney problems and anything with a lot of protein will really cause problems. He’s on a special prescription diet, and really hates it. Oh well, it’s that or dead kitty… I just wish I could get him to realize that!

The dog, on the other hand, eats ANYTHING. He’s eaten and enjoyed butternut squash, mangos, watermelon, and popcorn. Haven’t really found a vegetable that he hasn’t liked. Weirdo dog…

We have three cats and two of them are normal in their dining tastes. But one, Rascal has some unique tastes. He will completely flip out over cantaloupe. He will drive you crazy trying to get any that is in the house. He also loves fresh ripe tomatoes. None of your mass produced tomatoes here. It has to be the “real” thing.

Finally, and I consider this to be the weirdest of all is corn-on-the-cob. He likes corn on a plate well enough, but if it’s still on the cob he will fight you for it. Of course, you have to hold it for him so he can eat it while it is on the cob, but jeez does he love it.

When he’s dining on one of these weird foods, the other two cats pretend they don’t know him.

My old cat, Pepe, was very specific about his food. He liked deli roast beef, but it had to be cooked - he wouldn’t eat it raw. And he loved Crescent rolls - he’d eat two whole ones.

The oddest cat I ever saw was my Mother’s cat Junior. I saw him eat raw broccoli! You couldn’t leave anything out because he would eat it - he would eat through the plastic to get to the bread. She opened up the oven once to check on something she was cooking and he tried to jump in to get at it! She finally gave him away because it was too hard to keep up with him. And yes, he was a big ole kitty.

My ex-roommate’s cat went crazy over anything that involved meat. Ham from a sandwich, some fried chicken, little bit of hamburger-except hot dogs. It didn’t matter what kind, he just wouldn’t eat them. I always found that slightly insulting and vaguely worrisome, since I ate a lot of hot dogs. He was also fond of chips and salsa.
My cat’s gotten picky over the years, and refuses to eat any cat food except a certain kind of Whiskas. He will eat dog food, and almost any kind of meat that doesn’t involve barbecue sauce. What makes him crazy, though, is fresh fish. My dad fishes a lot, and he always brings home a freshly-caught fish just for the cat and dog. He fillets it and tosses the pieces to them while they sit worshipfully at his feet.

My cat loves Alley Cat, but the stores in the area have stopped carrying it. I have had to resort to buying other brands which she doesn’t like as much.

I have told this story before, but my kitty really, really loves peeps you know those Easter, marshmallow, sugar coated things. She will fight you for em.

She also likes to be offered whatever I am eating. She doesn’t take it, but she does like to be asked.

Beru loves to scarf down chocolate poptarts. She prefers that you break them in half first, so she can start with the filling.

My big cat is very into his dignity, and would normally never beg, as he feels it’s beneath him. However, when there’s muenster cheese out, he’s there, crying and howling to get some.

Our Golden Retriever is nuts about strawberries, and the German Shepherd we had when I was a kid liked lima beans.

Bo goes crazy over anything…he often nudges the dogs aside to be in the “prime” begging position at dinnertime. Abby turns up her ladylike nose at anything that isn’t cat food. My childhood cat, Misty, went nuts for saltine crackers. She would come running as soon as she heard the sound of the cellophane bag.
