Yes, dove is definitely delicious. It kind of reminds me of a cross between chicken and beef for some reason.
And like MissGypsy, I would also love to try sushi. I just think it looks so good, in the cute little black wrappers with the rice and stuff. Granted, I have tried sushi, but it was on a $5 all-you-can-eat chinese food buffett so I don’t really think that counts.
Right now I’m having fresh strawberries and cream (sorry thirdworlders, my conscience bothers me), but I’am still longing for the delicious little goodies I had in a modest sidewalk eatery in Kuala Lumpur a few years ago. Much better than one can have in our deluxe, x-starred restaurants. If I ever go back there, and I dream of it, I’d head straight to that place.
(Really it’s not something I’ve never tried, as the OP wants, but something I will probably never be able to try again)
Good fresh bread is also key for a good tomato sandwich. Preferably homemade. Best sandwiches I ever ate were made when I came home from the farmer’s market with a fresh loaf of whole wheat bread and ripe tomatoes picked that same morning. drools
They have ground buffalo at the grocery store. I want to try it but the hubby is not interested. One of these days I think I’ll invite some of my more adventurous friends over for a cookout and try it out.
Snake has the texture of chicken? That’s interesting to know!
My boyfriend says that frog is like chicken, but better.
And for those talking about tomatoes, I used to hate tomatoes. That is, until my mother grew some in the backyard. Finally, I got to try tomatoes that didn’t taste like a grocery store, and I loved them! I like tomatoes that are really red. The redder, the better. I’m still picky about them, though. Most tomatoes I get in restaurants have that “grocery store” taste.
And Stark Raven Mad, that’s a good idea. Someday when I’m feeling adventurous and have lots of time! Chinatown is great, except for the smell of all the dried seafood. Yuck. Also I originally typed “Shark Raven Mad”.
This is the longest a thread of mine has ever lasted. knocks wood
Goat is a lot leaner than lamb, but does have quite a gamey taste: I like it, but I can see how others wouldn’t. I ate horse sashimi down in Kyushu: very lean, again quite a strong taste. Frog does taste like chicken, as does fish: trouble is frogs are pretty small buggers, so you’re always spitting bones out.
Sparrow, unsurprisingly, also tastes like chicken: pigeon is better; it’s darker and has a richer flavour - makes a great soup. Shark fin soup tastes like catfood flavoured library paste - don’t bother. Stag beetles taste like less salty crab - nice, but nor much meat in them, and bamboo grubs taste like cashew nuts.
Never tried long pig, though: wonder how that would taste?
