What Foods Will You Absolutely *NOT* Eat?

Seafood and liver. Probably other organ meats as well.

You’ve all done a masterful job of planning the DopeFest menu.

Ricotta. The texture is vile.

Chocolate.

Moi, je mange tout.

Where is he, anyway?

Amazing! Most of the things mentioned are among my favorite foods: liver, squid and octopus, raw fish, pasta salads, melons,… I have never eaten bugs (unless you count lobsters and crabs), but I’d be willing to try. I have, one occasion each, eaten live fish (tiny glass fish), raw horsemeat, raw chicken, all in Japan. I have also not eaten any reptile meat, although there is no reason I would hesitate to. In fact, there is only thing I have eaten that I would rather not try again unless starvation was imminent: sea cucumber. It is more-or-less like eating gristle.

Can’t think of many, aside from exotic things like century eggs, surströmming, durian and the like (at least based on what I have read about them, especially if they really look or smell as bad as claimed). Although I don’t like water chestnuts (something about the texture) or chocolate bars with nuts in them (although I like nuts by themselves, or in a nut bar; I think chocolate should be something you can just melt in your mouth). I don’t like lettuce either and never eat salad. Oh, and raw eggs, which look like snot (whites) and probably have the same mouthfeel.

Brussels Sprouts
Cauliflower
Virtually everything that lives in water, especially seabugs.
Fresh strawberries
Fresh tomatoes (tinned is fine)
Fresh oranges (fresh orange juice is lovely, but the texture of orange segments is horrid)
Peaches
Apricots
Prunes
Plums
Cherries
Coconut
Brazil nut
Blue cheese
Soft cheese
Mushrooms
Jerky
Rare meat
Mayo (Satan’s spunk)
Drumsticks, thighs and wings.
Offal
Marzipan
Dark fruit cakes, especially the ones with loads of booze in
Trifle
Jelly/Jello with things in it
Cream

Lots more. The list of foods I will eat is probably much shorter.

Beets
Liver
Insects
Worms

Now that I’ve given up pretending to keep kosher, my list of things I will not eat has become considerably shorter.

[ul]
[li]Live animals or meat prepared from a live animal (e.g. sushi cut from live fish) - cruel, no legitimate reason to do it.[/li][li]Insects - I plead cultural animus.[/li][li]Whole animals with guts, etc., intact - ortolan and *balut *just give me the creeps.[/li][li]Beets - I grew up eating canned beets, and I still have nightmares.[/li][/ul]

Green peas. Always hated the flavour, always will.
Anything alive when I have to eat it.

Beets (including beet sugar I can taste the difference)
Lutefisk
Eyeballs
Anything still alive (moving) excluding plants.

Mutton. Or lamb in a stew. Adore roast lamb, or broiled chops, but never never in stew.

Need to add to my list

Chicken (they became pets and now I can no longer eat them)

Same with any other kind of pet meat, like dog, cat, bunny, or horse. Some kinds of fish, too, like catfish, because they fall under the pet category for me.

Raw onions. (shudder)

Raisins
Bananas

I’m a pretty picky eater, but I will try almost anything once (and then not want it again, but still, I’ll at least try). Except for those two foods. If it has any raisins or bananas, it’s not going near my mouth.

I was going to put peanut butter, but I like pad Thai, so I guess it doesn’t count. But I won’t touch it in any other context.

Nothing is off the table for me. I’d be reluctant to eat insects/arachnids, and generally don’t much care for shellfish, but nothing is absolutely excluded from my diet. I suspect that I lucked out and was born with a palate that allows me to enjoy nearly any food.

Add to that corn smut. (huitlacoche) I am very allergic to it! (And, because it gets in the dust and can be kicked up year round, there are only pauses in my suffering…) :frowning:
Also peanuts/peanut protein, again because I am allergic to it.

Yeah… I’m pretty sure if the boss was serving Puppy Pâté and Kitten Soufflé at a dinner party I’d be heading for the exit… at some speed.

In the abstract at least I can imagine eating dog (though not puppy), but never cat.

As for the organ meats etc, sure; regional delicacies, happy to try anything once… I’ve no desire to eat chicken’s feet again, but it was worth it to try once.

On the other hand I won’t be broken up if I never get to eat “I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt” again. (Although that may be exempt under the “fit for human consumption” rule).

Geez, and here I was thinking I was worldly.

I have no idea what any of the following foods are:

I’m scared to even ask what the fuck “pork jelly” is…

I have to agree with venison. I’ve heard it can be delicious but I had some that tasted like ASS. I will never touch it again. I will also never eat:

dog
head cheese
cooked mushrooms (I like raw)
bugs
bloody anything
