What foot do you bake with?

When that pre-heated oven door is open and you are offering the baking dish to the shelf while keeping your face out of the way - what foot is forward? I plant my right foot and prepare to yank back if necessary.

Left foot. But then again, I’m left-handed, and I’m turned to the left partially shielding myself from the blast.

I can seldom get one out of my mouth for long enough to use it to prop myself up for oven door opening situations.

i used to use my right foot, but with my recent slip/fall/shoulder fracture i no longer do any cooking tasks with my feet.

Left foot. I’ll put my left foot down to the side of the open door to use my right hand for moving heavy items in and out of the oven or poking them with thermometers or whatever. For lightweight items or no need to reach in, such as just taking a look, then it doesn’t matter.

Baking-wise, I’m ambi-pedi-dextrous. I don’t favor one foot over another and give zero thought to my stance. I guess I just live dangerously.

It depends whether i’m using the automatic oven or the manual.

I was so sure the title was a typo talking about driving.

But to answer the OP, I don’t know. I haven’t ever paid attention to which foot I put where.

Is this about avoid steam? Our new induction stove has a fan inside and so the steam vents up and out the back, saving us from doing the flat foot floogie

On my right knee. Oven is floor level, hinges to left side and swings open like a door (rather than a tailgate style). Left hand opens door, right hand inserts today’s tragic attempt at fooling myself I can cook. Glasses steam up. Hilarity… often happens.

I’ve been known to shut the oven with my right foot*. So I suppose it’s my right, but then again I have better balance on my left leg. I’m left sided too.
*(Hey, don’t judge! It’s a personal issue with touching things other people have touched. My daughter says she has an issue with touching things someone’s foot has touched. “Girl, please. Relax and get a Clorox wipe. It’s my kitchen, you know”)

Putting things in or out I don’t think I have a preference.
But I might do the “flat foot floogie” just for fun. Just sayin’

This.

I use my late grandfather’s bakelite foot prosthetic. It bakes, it’s lite, and heat resistant.

@Pardel-Lux ok, you win this one

I bake with my hands and stir batter with my feet, like any sane person.

I think I use my right, but I now stand to the side when I open the door thus avoiding the scalding steam. I learned this lesson when I opened the oven door when I was roasting a huge pan of Italian sausage, peppers, potatoes and zuke. I opened the door and started to reach in for the pan, the steam came blasting out and scalded my arm.

That’s the original thread. This is the satire thread.
