I’m blue, with yet another cat getting diagnosed as terminal (this one just yesterday) and a variety of generally depressing things going on. Usually when I get this way, I do things for people. But I don’t have much in the way of money at the moment (what with the vet bills rolling in and our more extravagant-than-usual charitable donations this year).
What would be things that someone could do for you that would improve your life or make your day or even just make you smile?
You could come into the brand spankin’ new fathom chat room and hang out. (You have to be logged in to the fathom boards to get in, btw). There are only 3 of us in there right now and it would be great to have another. Plus we could cheer you up, too!
If someone shoveled the snow off my sidewalk, I’d probaby cry with gratitude. I tore scar tissue away from the mesh used in my hernia repair and shoving is gonna hurt my belly.
This time of year we have a clean out. It’s a Scot’s thing that you clean the house and don’t take dirt or unnecessary things with you into the new year.
Clothes can go to goodwill,
Toys to toy libraries or any collections for needy kids,
Blankets to shelters,
and any food you can spare to food banks.
If you’re crafty at all, blankets for shelters can be knitted or sewn. We have had a project here that asked for peggy squares (15cm square), as many or as few as could be managed. They were collected and then sewn into blankets and shipped off to Moldovian Orphans. I knitted *heaps *and got OOS. Giving till it hurt!
Perhaps you and some friends could check with local churches about similar projects?
