Fellow Sims junkie checking in. I generally go in spurts when I play constantly for a couple of months, then back off, then come back.
I also get addicted to free word games on msn and yahoo. Right now it’s Word Mojo. For awhile it was Text Twist and Word Racer.
Yes… I successfully made it thru about 10 or 12 levels of Voln, and (I think) retired my character at 16th level. I started just after the “conversion” and retired just after AOL went flat rate. You were probably higher level than I was, then…
I went on vacation for two weeks, and the “addiction” waned. And then I couldn’t get on AOL’s dialup for another couple of weeks. When I finally went back, my character’s stats had decayed to the point where he was “useless,” so I just gave all my stuff to a friend who still plays, FAIK… her character was a Warrior named Genevieve.
Another Civ III nut checking in. Jeez, that game killed so much I could have been doing with my life! Between that and Tropico, my computer game fantasy life was filled.
I can’t seem to maintain obsession about more than one at a time, so at different times Spades on MSN, Warcraft II, Literati on Yahoo, Scrabble, Boggle, and Freecell against the computer, Sims, and Payday Freecell on the AOL games more recently.
Yeti Sports, Dave the Worm, Acrophobia (I won’t bother to link… it’s not the same anymore), Myst/Riven (can’t find the CDs right now, and it’s SUMMER!!!).
That’s all that comes to mind right now.
CIVII… One more turn… One more turn…
my sentiments exactly, yet it looks to be the same game, what’s wrong with it? the horrible pop-ups?
Unfortunately Simcity 4 gets rid of that pesky “no more room” thing that tells me when to stop playing.
None of the sequals ever matched my addiction to the original Civ game.
X-Com kept me awake many a night.
Many an afternoon was spent battling online with Age of Empire II
I refuse to play any of that online Everquest shit or the Sims since I need to work for a living.
D2 and D2: LOD, for a fair amount of time. I only started playing because I became a “D2 widow” when all my friends got sucked in. I did too.
For the past 2 years it’s been Dark Age of Camelot for me. I’ll play it nonstop for months, then take a month or so off, then go back to it in cycles. Man it’s a lot of work, but I love that game to death. So much so that I’ve grabbed a few Dopers and sucked them into my guild.
(I’m Amaravasa Das on Guinivere, GL of the Skulls if anyone’s out there playing!)
Everquest most recently. I quit in February after 2 years.
Civ3 before that and now I’m drifting back to Civ3
I get addicted to games easily. Mostly RPG like the AD&D Gold box series and Ultima, but also Starflight, Starcraft, Civ 1,2,3 etc
I have been addicted to Magic: the GAthering since I found out about it in the 9th grade. I even managed to stop playing it for 4 years, but now I’m back off the wagon. Cardboard Crack I tell you!
I also play entirely too much Diablo II: LOD and I have been known to spend hour and hours playing Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour.
Previously I have been ruled by Age of Kings and Mythology, Starcraft, Unreal Tournament and Quake II. Final Fantasy I and X. Secret of Mana. Tekken 3. Perfect Dark and Bond. Probably some others that are best left burried lest I play them again.
Right now- Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. I’d played it for about six hours in the past but then kind of gave up on it, because I couldn’t find any decent weapons. Then I fired it up recently and found the weapon shop (right next to the item shop :smack: ). Great game.
Recently- Deception III: Dark Delusion. Killing people with traps rarely gets old. Even when you figure out the really, really abusive trap combos.
Once and future- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I’ve got both the US and Japanese versions now, and if I could I’d get a Saturn and hunt down the other version. It’s just the best Castlevania ever.
