What Generation Are You

I am born in 66, but raised by the Generation that fought in WW2. A caboose, if you will. I don’t fit in with the Gen X’ers one bit, you whippersnappers.

Born in 62 I’m X by the poll. But really I feel to old for X and to young for Boomer.

I checked “Other” because, bringing up the absolute rear of the Boomers as I am, my experiences have been fundamentally different from those of Boomers in general. That’s one of the problems with a “clean slices” demarcation. It should be more of a continuum, and I’d show up as being in an interim-colored area between Boomers and X.

Just squeaked in GenX born Dec 1 1961 (send cards)

Every single SDMB poll I’ve taken so far, I’ve been one of the ‘winning’ answers. I’m starting to think I’m mister Doper-Average…

Religion - Atheism.
Politics - Democrat.
Coke/Pepsi - Coke.
Generation - X.
Pet - Cat.
Sexuality - Straight Male.

And anything before the Millennials should be “old and crotchety.”

Technically, a Millennial, though I always hated that designation, because I am one of the first ones (born in 82,) so I have that unhappy middle-ground. Though I think even extending gen X to '81 is a little far, I’ve considered it cut off in '78 or '79. At any rate, us late 70’s/early 80’s peeps, like most people born at the end/start of the generational gaps, have qualities of both.

At one point I saw a different generational chart that had Gen X, Gen Y, and Millennials. X ended much earlier, and Y went to about mid-late 80’s, and the Millennials took over from there.

Heh. Usually I’m tossed in with the boomers, but these ranges put me in with the Xers. Only reason I voted.

M-m-m-me too. Hope I die before I get old.

I’m a Millennial, but prefer Generation Y designation (born in 1985). Both of my parents are Boomers. My older siblings are all Xs, the youngest of them having been born in 1972.

Talkin 'bout my generation. :stuck_out_tongue:

In 1928 people said the same thing about the Greatest Generation.

Another 1982’er here - not quite Gen X, but not quite ‘millenial’ either. What does Nirvana **and **texting get me?

I was not even aware I was in the X Generation (born 1980). I thought 79 was the cutoff.

Millenial according to the designations there, but for some reason, it doesn’t feel right. I think I prefer “Generation Y.”

I was born in 1987.

Me too, although having strict cutoffs for these sorts of things seems a bit silly. What I wonder is if my brothers and sister are different generations than me seeing as they were all born in the 80’s (we all have the same parents, incidentally). That seems wrong for some reason.

Boomer here!
(1953)

meh…we X’s don’t care about shit:dubious:

Wasn’t that a great year?!

1966 - I consider myself a Gen X’er. I think the reason other people my age don’t really consider themselves X’ers is because there is a flawed idea out there of what a Gen X’er actually is. Gen X’ers are not the flannel-wearing slackers people seem to think they are.
