What gets re-gifted?

Luckily there were no applets or cotlets in the Christmas presents today. But there was a small frame for a photograph with 3 ladybugs (on springs) at the top. It was my nominee for re-gifting until our daughter snagged as too camp to depart.

I think there is a table lamp shaped like Santa Claus that has circulated within my extended family for the last 19 years.

Every year Mr baboon gets a bottle of Drakar Noir (which we strongly suspect that it was regifted to him).
Every year, Mr baboon’s friend gets that bottle of drakar - which he loves.

He’s happy.
I’m happy (that the scent of drakar is no where near me)
Mr. baboon is happy that he doesn’t have to go out and purchase a gift.

everyone is happy.

What a softball! The answer is fruitcake!

That bottle of Icewine I got. The Niagara Region is well known for the high quality its Icewines, but I personally can’t stand the stuff. It’s a sugary, syrupy desert wine whereas I far prefer very dry reds.

E-mail me that wine - I need it

My sister-in-law’s parents finally stopped giving presents to each other. He would give her clothes that wouldn’t fit, and she would give him clothes that he never wore, or other items that he never used.

One year she took a shirt from his closet that she had given him in a previous year, wrapped it up and gave it to him again. He never even noticed.

Now that is re-gifting.

Nope, I’m more deserving. Send it to me.

Hmmm, maybe I should open up bidding? Actually this is going to be a suck-up gift to my friend’s girlfriend. She can get me good discounts where she works. Nobody tell her about my diabolical plan, ok?

Well, I got re-gifted this: http://www.talkingpresents.com/productpages/pets_catbag.html

I distinctly remember that my MIL got it last year. I think she hates me.

Nothing’s getting re-gifted this year. I love everything I got!! In past years, my MIL has given me an Amaryllis plant every single freakin’ year. I’ve told her again and again, I don’t like plants!! I kill plants for grins and giggles!! This year, for the first time in about 15 years, she didn’t give me an Amaryllis, she gave me Pyrex cookware, which I actually have some use for. Woo-hoo!

I regifted a vegetarian cookbook that I already have. My paralegal gave it to me, and I hadn’t gotten a gift for my stepson’s girlfriend yet, so she got it.

Orange plaid dearfoam slippers ugh! And I gave that person soft white sheepskin scuffs gggrr.

Oh, if only I could…my mom keeps buying me porcelain dolls…but if I gave them away, she’d know! I know she’d know! :o

I regifted an extra copy of The Runner’s Book of Daily Inspiration because I already have a copy… I’ve wanted one for my best friend and now she has one!

I got a breakfast-in-bed tray with coffee/tea/snacky-things, teapot, and cups. I’d dearly love to regift it, but BIL & SIL would REALLY get their feelings hurt, so we’ll eat the snacky things, I’ll give the coffee away (I don’t like coffee) and the teapot and cup will go in a closet somewhere. I was looking at the tray, trying to make it useful - I may be able to yet…

My MIL gave me an electric rotisserie. It’s nice, but I really doubt that I’ll ever use it. I think it might get “broken” when I move next year. I hate to sound ungrateful, but it seems every year she give me another small appliance, and apart from the bread maker, the rest have gone unused. I’m not that big into kitchen gadgetry.

My sibs and I quit exchanging gifts years ago, so that prevents me getting more stuff that just collects dust.

I got a tie with a satanic-looking snowman on the front-- and it plays music. This will vanish in the future, as will the pull-cord plushie vibrator.
