Some evil monster has started adding metal to our money!
magnetic metal no less!
the evil evil sod!
Oki, about half an hour ago i wandered into my sisters room for a chat, and i picked up one of those silly toys that comprise of a magnetic base with lots of little metal men on it ( you can make them stand on each other’s heads and stuff ).
Anyway, i noticed a coin stuck to it
a one pence coin ( that’s right, i am in Britain, adn you americans wont know what i am talking about, god that feels good after reading that twinkie thread!) Stuck to a ma2gnet, i thought it must be a fake, so i took the magnet through to my room where i havea huge pile of money ( mostly coppers ) adn dragged it through the pile.
the magnet picked up a fair few of the coins, and the earlies dated one it picked up was a 1992 coin, and the latest one it refused was a 1991 coin. so what happened in 1991-1992?
and why?
why change a recipie that has been around for longer than( probably ) twinkies?!?!
worries *
is there anything sinsister about this at all?
am i just paranoid?
Gotta give my sister back that magnet now, but i am keeping that coin.
all the new ones are going in a metal box until this riddel is solved
PLEASE GUYS… SOMEONE… ANYONE…WHAT’s HAPPENING TO MY MONEY??
Over here in the U.S., they started making our pennies (or “one cent coins” as the numismatists like to call them) out of copper-plated zinc a while back, for similar reasons.
The same thing happened to US coins back in the 60s as well, the silver in the coins began to be worth more than the coins themselves, so the US Mint began making silver coins with copper slugs.
Anyone else got magnetic money?
do you know why?
is this perhaps some kind of retaliation against the Euro ( i have never touched a(n) Euro, maybe it is to stop euro’s being mixed up with 2p’s ( if they are of comparable size )
but i dont have a clue.
is it just so that buskers can be easily located, caught by police?
[sub]… fzzt … fzzt ’ i think we got one Bert’ fzzt ‘Yea Ted, it has to be one, swich on the magnet’ FFFZZTTTTT… THWAP!!! ’ GOTCH ’ oh look, i just wiped my HDD, damnit’
you both managed to post in hte time that it took me to type my 3rd message
bravo.
So there is nothing sinsister, there was no media coverup, it was because it was not deemed important ( its important to me, i woulda bought that paper! )
Are you suggesting that the copepr int eh coins was becoming worth more thatn the coins?
why cant we have magnetic pound coins, then i could spend all my spare time trying to get pound coins out of arcade machines
re-introduces magnetic money to the general coper coin population *
i would hate to see you if something bad happened jarb.

"The house is burning down? Tha’s coo’, just gotta post one more reply, no biggie. Just a moment. Hey, did you know that in Britain their real money has ben swapped for evil doppleganger money that will eat their firstborn children… .how quaint! "[/sup]
Hey there, cuddlecrumpet, I live in the STATES, where we had to deal with New Coke, Clear Pepsi and a little television show I like to call SMALL WONDER
Carnivorous Doppleganger Pound Coins are an f-ing walk in the park.
Geez, Qis, lucky you weren’t in Australia in the early 90s. Our paper money became plastic money, complete with weird little clear windows, holograms, and the mark of the Beast.
[sub]Well, ok, just weird little plastic windows and holograms.[/sub]
Does your money get to see where its going?
do the windows ever steam up?
are they, in fact, minature camreas used to spy on you?
is there ever anythign inside the wondows
( i have no clue how a window gets onto money )
( i cant even picture your money )
MEBuckner, if it was me, I’d implant a memory chip in the top of the hand, full of vital information, instead of a tattoo. Tattooed marks of the Devil are SOOOO 1450’s.
Look, I just scanned our New Zealand 20-dollar note. It also has windows, copied the West-Islanders on that, it seems. Also has the parliament building and image of the beast.
Yet, I am sorry, I don’t know how to post this image!
You can’t post an image PressureMedic (bandwidth, copyright and security concerns I think), but if you could find somewhere to put it you can post a link to it. Welcome to the Boards BTW. West-Islanders… hmmph. An Australian $20 can be seen here and a fine shot of a Kiwi $10 here.
Thanks for the info! And also thanks for your links. BTW, I still haven’t seen many of the new $10 notes yet, as pictured, but they’re much more colourful than the ones I’ve got.
And here I was truly hoping that you lived through 91-92 so drunk and stoned that you literally did not remember a bit of it and we were going to have to give you a quick primer so you could ‘fake it’ if 91-92 ever came up.
