I’m not seeing that covered in other news sites. I see stories about riots in 2013 and 2015. But I’m not finding anything about riots recently (at least not in English). Are you sure that story is recent?
This Swedish newspaper article seems to say that there was some rioting Monday evening in the Rinkeby district of Stockholm, involving maybe 30-40 people, due to resentment over a drug bust. According to Google Translate:
For comparison, bear in mind that the Berkeley riots earlier this month are claimed to have involved maybe 150 masked agitators breaking windows and hurling Molotov cocktails. Not to make light of violence, and I strongly denounce such violent hooliganism in the name of “protest” whether it’s in the US or in Sweden. But I think it’s absurd to suggest that either one of these incidents indicates a country “having problems like they never thought possible” or in the grip of terror attacks.
There was one a couple of months ago near a friend’s dental clinic, another in Denmark a few weeks before that. Both were attributed to biker gangs fighting amongst themselves.
I am going out on a limb and say that biker gangs is one place where you won’t find refugees.
This morning, a Swedish citizen stole a truck loaded with gas bottles (the domestic-use kind) and was eventually brought into custody after driving against traffic in one of Barcelona’s beltways for several kilometers. He’s been taken to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation.
Maybe Trump’s crystall ball thinks we’re a suburb of Malmö?
Does anybody know whether the State Dept. has responded to Sweden’s request for clarification as to whether Trump’s tweet about Fox News is the official White House response?
I did some searching today but finding anything specific in searches involving “trump” and “twitter” is pretty difficult.
I’m still dealing with the concept of the USA - a country, even countries built on immigration, some of it even voluntary - has something to learn on immigration from a place more used to exporting Vikings. This is a relatively new game for Swedes, at least on any scale. The USA has around 200 years advantage.
I think the perspective in general is that immigrants are not anymore dangerous than the native population when it comes to crimes across the spectrum. Some studies even show that immigrants are somewhat less likely to commit crimes.
No, not a claim I made either. I don’t know who’s responsible for the increasing grenade attacks in Sweden except the one Mighty_Girl said: “There was one a couple of months ago near a friend’s dental clinic … attributed to biker gangs fighting amongst themselves.” That’s why I asked the question you quoted.
I do not know, as I don’t follow all news from Sweden. I am not sure why you think I meant more than I conveyed using simple words. If you have more information, feel free to provide it.
