Every year on my birthday, the swallows come back to Capistrano.

It’s also the day we invaded Iraq, which bugs the crap out of me. My birthday was once a cute little footnote of a spring day, with news shows dutifully filming these birds flapping around, but now that’s been replaced with news segments on body counts and political posturing.

I’ll just go with the really good one - MLK Jr. made his “I have a dream…” speech in Washington in 1963.
