Last night I watched the Office for the first time in two or three weeks. It wasn’t on purpose, but frankly, I couldn’t stand Robert California so I wasn’t too sad.
Anyway, I watched it last night and I was laughing hard through almost all of it. But some changes obviously occurred, so if someone can summarize what happened the last two or three episodes I’d appreciate it.
Like, why is half the group with Donna Noble (OK, Katherine Tate)? Thanks.
No time to explain but if you liked last night, I think you’d really like the two previous episodes. I didn’t care for last night relative to those. They were some of the best in a long time!
And Dwight & Packer have been competing for (i) a vice presidency, and (ii) the affections of Nellie. Dwight won on both counts, sort of. Jim fends off the advances of the new brunette chick whose name escapes me.
Also, Robert California(James Spader) is not returning next year. It was pre-agreed that he would only do one year. So, there is hope if you disliked him.
I don’t have the link right here, but that is official.
I love Robert California’s character, and sad he’s not been in the past few episodes.
As stated up thread, you may want to watch the last 2 episodes. I think they are still on Hulu. Last night was the first time I missed the show, (which I watched this morning on the computer), at it’s 9pm air time… EVER. I mean it. That’s how loyal I am to the show.
I really love this season… and I think this episode was one of the worst this year. I didn’t like that Andy didn’t just tell everyone what really happened. Yes, people may find it funny that he was hit by a little girl, but there’s nothing embarrassing about it. What was he going to do? Hit her back?
Nobody would find the presentation Jim gave applause worthy.
Yeah, plenty of people do like him. He just rubbed me the wrong way.
Seeing how everybody laughed at him, of course he’s going to try and hide it. I’m just shocked no-one threatened to look at the security tape the way they did when Michael hit Meredith with his car then then tried to lie about it.
I know, but I thought his performance was funny. Maybe it’s because Jim’s character is supposed to be so reserved so it was kind of out of character for him.
Speaking of out of character, Ryan being an emotional wreck too me by surprise. I mean, his character has had a few changes over the course of the show, but I can’t reconcile this latest development with the Ryan who was VP for while.
RC isn’t for everyone. I know another person that hates his character.
I still don’t think Andy would hide the fact that he got hit by a little girl, especially by defending Pam. If I was Andy I would be like; “Check out what this 12 year old did to my face!” Like I said, people may laugh, but anyone who’s anyone would know that Andy couldn’t do shit about it. But maybe, because it’s Andy, he acted in character. I just know I would jest about a little girl giving me a black eye, and own the situation.
I agree Jim was funny… my issue was just that the reaction of his audience.
As far as Ryan is concerned, I think I read B.J. Novak saying he was nervous BECAUSE he had failed as CEO, and the pressure of being part of something again freaked him out. I could provide a link, but it contains spoilers. I still agree with you. I don’t think Ryan would be that much of a wreck.
Regarding Jim’s speech: I think that was kind of the point, that no one should find it applause worthy, and yet they did. I think the idea was that all the doofus, hipster, bloggers would buy into any sort of tech-hype hook, line, sinker.
That’s one thing I don’t like about The Office at times… “regular” people acting like caricatures. That’s why it’s hard to like some of the episodes that take place in the public, not confined to the office.
