I just turned on Opera (WinXP) and all of my bookmarks are gone!
What the hell? Nothing wierd happened. I don’t think I installed anything since the last time I used it. How could this happen? How can I get them back?! I had well over 100 sites saved and it will be a huge burden to try to find them all again.
Do you still have a file called opera6.adr? That’s where the bookmarks are stored. I also have one on my drive called opera6.adr.bak, which should be a backup for it. If you’ve got those, they’re at least restorable. The Opera help people will help you if you can’t tell how to restore them.
I have noticed that if you fail to shut down properly Opera sometimes loses your bookmarks file and customised settings and resets to a default state. I quickly learned to take backups of opera6.adr and opera6.ini - unfortunately, I don’t know of any other solutions beyond the backup file Bob Scene mentioned.
