What happened to search?

Ever since I’ve been coming here, the search function up on the main menu bar there–right between new posts and quick links–has had a little arrow next to it that’d bring up a quick search box; alternatively, there was a more indepth search page that you could get to by clicking on the search link itself.

The arrow and quick-search functions seem to have disappeared quite recently–like within the last week or so. What happened?

Seems to be working just fine right now.

Rilly? Maybe it’s something weird going on with my browser here; I’ve had problems w/ links, or things that ought to be links, over at lexisnexis. Odd that I don’t even get the little arrow there. I’ll plug my laptop in later and see if that works.

I’ve found that when I search for my user name–any time of day or night, not just at peak times–I only get OLD results. I’ve been getting these same results for two weeks, despite the fact that I’ve been replied to several times since then.

I emailed about it, and was told to just subscribe to threads I’m in, which I can do no problem, but doesn’t answer why this search function seems to be permanently disabled, at least for me.

And another dang thing…the “New Posts” search fucnction is downright batty…there are times when I know darn well that more than oh, 11 threads have been posted to in the last 24 hours, or whatever the search parameters are, but the parameters seem to be “whatever the hamsters feel like spitting out” much of the time.

Freaky-deeky. My quick-search box came back all on its own. o.O

Not just for you. Though when I search I usually get an error message saying the page could not be opened with the browser request and adding that I’m a wanker.

Try changing the time parameter. For some reason this version of the bulletin board software seems to cache search results based on the timeframe. If you always search for “last week” or whatever, the results don’t refresh. I’ve found that if I switch it up (last month, last two weeks, etc) with each search, I get up-to-date results.

Nice! Thanks Cervaise, I’m going to try this.
