beginning aboutt 1968, there was an adult-oriented cartoon-and-joke book, in magazine format, titled Sex to Sexty, published in Fort Worth, Texas, by a company called SRI. The latest number of that magazine I ever got was #169, published around late 1983. Do any of the Teeming Millions (particularly those who live in or near Fort Worth) know why Sex to Sexty ceased publication? I sure don’t.
“Adult-orientated” is putting it mildly. I remember good old Sex-to-Sexty. Me and my high school buddies learned all we needed to know about sex from Sex-to-Sexty. The name itself is a play on six to sixty and, considering that the material was all 100% sexual humour I hesitate to speculate on the 6 to 60 reference. There were an awful lot of editions of Sex-to-Sexty and it was all the corniest dirtiest cartoons and jokes that could possibly be collected. My favourite was titled “The Illiterate Sex-to-Sexty” which was all sight gags with absolutely no literacy required. I remember these magazines were a little pricy and, if I were to speculate on its demise, I suspect they just went bankrupt and faded away. It just wasn’t worth the money. “The dirty mind has a perpetual feast”.
It was around when I hit puberty back in 1961, and I had an uncle who bought it regularly and hid it where I couldn’t find it. Or at least he thought so.
Oh man. Gosh, that takes me back! My parents used to buy that! My dad would send my mom into the store to get it!? I snuck a look at it,but didn’t “get” any of the jokes.
Well, I’ve been trying to find it! Especially one with a girl sticking her tongue through her boyfriend’s ears (#36?) from about 1973. It may be “dirty and corny,” but those who have read “The Squeaking Bed!” in MPSIMS know I need all the titillation I can get!
Has anyone done a web search for this stuff? I’m really curious and in my tender age haven’t had the pleasure of ever seeing this wonderful product.
Don’t have any info on what happened to it (I do remember it, too)–but for you folks that have never heard of it, there are a few on Ebay, if you’re interested in checking them out.
What is “Ebay,” Mjollnir?
