Somehow my email got on the distribution list for the daily email of a well-known right-wing periodical*. They have Disqus comments over there, and I have occasionally commented over there under a handle that bears no resemblance to the one I use here.
I mentioned in passing the kids being ripped from their families at the border. “Fake news,” the other commenters said. Yeah, they literally said that that wasn’t happening, that the media made it up. There were similar comments about other bits of news, but that one stood out.
Whatever our more conservative commenters think about the ‘hive mind’ here, what’s happening there is so far beyond what y’all see here. There is no comparison.

What happened is that racist cunts took over the office of the presidency and apparently colluded with Russia, a hostile power to do it. Other racist cunts try to accommodate their presidents outrageous behavior that has done real and permanent damage to our democracy. These same racist cunts tut-tut and bemoan the loss of civility even though they have been calling civility “political correctness” and whining about it for 20 years. These racist cunts don’t like being called out for being racist cunts.
The death of our democracy and the rise of white nationalism controlled by an outside power have not surprisingly attracted the attention of quite a few people who start threads about it or otherwise engage in existing threads about what is the most momentous event in American history since WWII.
