What Happened to those "XX Shopping Days Til Xmas" Notices?

I remember that those little notices would start appearing in the newspaper…round about late October. I don’t recall seeing one in years…so should we revive the custom?
How about starting the notices in , say June “Attention: Only 180 shopping days till Christmas!”
What do yousay?

Not good enough.

Let’s start on Dec. 26 with “Only 364 more shopping days till Christmas”.

Hell, why not have “XXX shopping days till <holiday>” EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR for every holiday.

Let’s also make it the first and last thing we hear and see on every news outlet.

They seemed to become less prevalent here once shops started trading seven days a week. If you can shop every day right up until Christmas, I suppose there’s less need to warn people how many available days are left.

Unless you’re in Nova Scotia–“Only 312 shopping days left.”

Stores don’t open on Sundays here.

No problem. Adapt to local customs, I always say.
Well, I say other things, but you get my drift.

Yes, that’s just what we need. To make christmas even longer, and have store throw it at you for longer.

Oh, my.

I am of the opinion that someone should make a law that Christmas cannot be, under any circumstances, commercially addressed until after Thanksgiving.

Don’t laugh…it would be a better law than some of the ones I have seen lately.
