What happens if Trump is indicted in Georgia? (Indicted on August 14, 2023)

Okay, is it just me or does it seem like each time there is another set of charges involving Trump, it gets bigger? Like a legal snowball?

I was thinking just that. One snowflake turned into an avalanche in Georgia.

There ya go.

Jack Smith isn’t done with him, either. I suspect there will be superseding indictments or separate indictments that are more expansive that the single indictment he is currently facing in D.C.

As Maleficent said, “I shall sleep well”. I hope it includes Graham, Powell, Meadows, Guiliani, and who else might it be?

The Georgia indictments seem to be the most worthy of popping champagne. Ketchup will be flying at Mar-a-Lago!

I’m holding the champagne for convictions.

John Eastman, Jeffrey Clark, Boris Epshteyn, Stephen Miller, Donald Trump Jr., Steve Bannon and a few more I can’t think of… it’s a long list.

Everyone should keep in mind too that multiple defendants usually means lengthy stretches to get to trial. Every defendant must be accommodated. It may be a couple years before we see the trial.

I’m so glad that Jack Smith indicted only one (so far) on the election interference case. Hope it speeds things up enough to wrap this up before summer.

Interesting, the da’s office has not seen the indictment as yet. It went from the jury room, to the sheriff, to the clerk, to judge, to clerk, and posted.

We are all waiting on the posting.

This is per a former ga da on msnbc.

I thought I heard (CNN on radio driving home) that Georgia has a speedy trial law? If a single one requests the trial would have to start by I think it was mid November (3 months)?

I just turned on CNN and was greeted by the good news. Sadly, no champagne here, but I’m making do with a cold beer.

And I’m sure that the ketchup is flying as I type this.

Okay found this.

Would that be the case if Willis brings it as a RICO case? I thought those were a bit different

Ms rodham clinton has quite the smile going. She was booked on Rachel maddow’s show for tonight, and now is in studio for this indictment.

Hamberdurs for everyone!

I’m glad you found that. I knew severance was one option available for defendants demanding a speedy trial, but I’m no expert on Georgia and/or RICO trial procedure and have no idea how it’s all going to play out. I do know that in general, with multiple defendants the potential for delay is much greater.

I don’t know if RICO speaks specifically to speedy trial rights for the People. I do know that defendants can always waive time to postpone proceedings and those postponements are usually granted if there is a reasonable basis for them.

It’s a bit karmic, isn’t it?

Heh. I flipped over to Fox to see how Hannity was reacting to the news from Atlanta. You will all be shocked to know that he was talking about Hunter Biden. I watched for about 7 seconds, which was all I could stand.

I’m wondering if 1 judge could handle all the indictments. Will they be split up? If they are split up do the defendants end up in going from courtroom to courtroom?

This is one very giant squid of a case. Perhaps this is the kraken that someone tried to call.

What good news, maybe our Democracy will survive.

Save the good champagne for convictions. This merits at least a glass of prosecco.
