I have a little book called something like 100 miused words. It discusses “wreak” and gives the past tense and past participle as “wreaked.” It also points out that “wrought” is an alternative past participle of “work.”
I always thought that this quote’s meaning was “brought about” in the sense of “wreaked.” Does it really mean “worked”?
