I bought a TiVo based on OpalCat’s recent thread. Unfortunately it came without a remote, so I have to wait for them to send one so I can use it, heh. (I bought it refurbished through half.com.)
a Sybian.
Double chocolate chip raw cookie dough to eat.
And I’m sure on Saturday, I’ll buy food items to be consumed in various eateries. (plus whatever else I buy during the Vancouver Dopefest… hey, if it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t be anywhere near those places, right? ;))

A Tug Ahoy.
[sub]C’mon! Somebody had to say it![/sub]
So, Green Bean, uh, did it work?
Black & White. Which I haven’t played very much, since I don’t have much time.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 1 & 2.
Nintendo 64 (as opposed to a PlayStation).
Pop-It Stopper freeware.
A DVD player that supports MP3’s.
I almost considered buying one of those bean husk pillows because of an infomercial thread.
Airplane tickets.
A LiveJournal membership.
Various gifts and things for my favorite Doper.
Double salted licorice and stuffed grape leaves from Trader Joe’s.
Guns Germs and Steel as referenced in some of the old race threads and some of the songs mentioned in the “best covers” thread in Cafe Society.
Lots and lots of books. In fact, much of what I’ve read in the past year has come from the various “what are you reading” threads.
A dinner at Farrell’s at the infamous San DiegDopeFest.
The first Straight Dope book, Watership Down, Several Terry Pratchett Books, and 2 Orson Scott Card books. All are great.
I went over my cell phone minutes because I have had technical issues with Outlook Express on my new laptop. I spent over 4 hours (two calls) with a tech from Microsoft. Since I was online I had to use my cell phone.
I called Sprint b/c I feared I would be over. I saw a thread about Sprint in the Pit about three weeks ago. Someone suggested that Sprint customers inquire about the “retention” plan. I did and for no additional money, I will get 400 anytime minutes added to my existing plan. Also, they took half of my over minutes off. I am pumped because this saved my around $60.00.
My Outlook Express situation is still not resolved btw.
I ended up spend a little over $100 at Penzey’s.
The book by the Good Eats guy.
I read all of the Ender’s Game books by Orson Scott Card thanks to vigorous proselytizing by my bud EnderW25. Although most of his prosletyzing was via AIM, so I don’t know if that counts.
Like a thousand other people, I think I was first recommended Guns, Germs, and Steel here. A few other books too, including Diamond’s other fabulous book The Third Chimpanzee. (Read it now!) The books thing gets complicated though, because I am a complete bibliophile and I worked in a bookstore for a year and a half and often can’t remember exactly where I learned of books.
The CD Who is Jill Scott. Not the kind of music I listen to usually, but she’s extremely talented.
Plane tickets to LA for DTF and Chicago for ChiDope and associated costs (ie, hotel).
I have bought books. Currently I’m reading Starship Troopers despite the fact that I hated Stranger in a Strange Land. About 1/3 the way through, I think I made the right choice. Then again, I liked the first 1/3 of Stranger as well…
A plane ticket, wedding dress, and many, many hours of long distance calling.
Reading this thread I just realised I forgot to order Demon Haunted World and Guns, Germs and Steel with my last Amazon order. I did pick a few books from the “Most eybrow-raising books in your library” thread, though. Nobody’s Business if You Do , for one.
blanx, you ordered your very own Sybian? I though those things were incredibly expensive. In any case, I have a friend who would like very much to spend some time at your house!
