I guess there is no Spanish Moss in CA. Well, that explains it!
Woo-hoo! Thanks! I found a site devoted just to her at:
http://freespace.virgin.net/d.simpson/Vitina/Vitina.html
And she has a real-life daughter named…Athena!
I’ve not been able to find the following:
How to make a fishing net – like the Brazilians use in rivers.
How to make a disposable (cheap) gun silencer without paying $29.95 for the book.
All that free government money Mr. Lesco yammers about in his book that I don’t want to buy.
Anything about Medicare or Medicaid prescription benefits. (A disabled friend of mine suddenly has to buy his and his finances at $650 a month to pay $850 in basic living expenses don’t allow him to do so. Neither Medicare nor Medicaid will tell us anything except ‘he makes too much money from Social Security Disability.’)
A good, international E-pal site where people actually send more than 1 e-mail and like to discuss differences between nations, people and local products.
A site for a program that will kill those ‘endless loop’ functions some porn sites have, where once you enter, either you spend 30 minutes closing windows to get out of or shut off your computer. (Forget about just closing your IPS, because the last two locked it open!)
Try Webwasher…it gets rid of banner ads and pop-ups…but it messes up the SDMB site.
I recently got myself a groovy CD-R for the express purpose of doing routine system backups.
Yet it doesn’t work for backups. Online documentation doesn’t help and the “manual” only covers the hardware install and setup.
I used to like HP a lot.
I cannot seem to find a china teapot that my mother has been looking for for years.
It is a discontinued pattern. It was made by Royal Stafford and the pattern is called “Clovelly”.
I did manage to find a cake plate in that pattern (I have already purchased it) but I cannot find the teapot.
I have searched everywhere I know to look. I am registered with about a hundred “We’ll let you know if we find it!” sites but nowhere can I just buy the damn thing!
i’ve been looking for a calvin and hobbes t-shirt. i keep coming up against a brick wall of legal mumbo jumbo - bill holds the rights etc. etc. and if they’re out there then they’re not ligit. but they ARE out there, so where can i get one?
Don’t ask what? Why the first Gates cloning went so wrong? Why they all got Hannibal Lecter’s taste in women?
evilbeth,
If you don’t mind being registered with a hundred and one places for your china, here’s one more place to look:

Never been able to find out what happened to “pimple balls”, which are infamous in Philly and New York for playing stick ball, and many other urban street games.
These latex air filled balls, with stars on top on bottom, and pimples around 3/4 of the ball, were essential to playing games like wall ball, chink, half ball, ass, stick ball, step ball, box ball, wall, scrum, and numerous others.
In the early 80’s, they just disappeared. No store had them, and we were left to find another ball for our street games. We tried racket balls, and tennis balls, but nothing had the same bounce, grip, etc.
Some games were developed over generations, and the characteristics of the pimple ball were essential to playing these games. Nothing left a welt like a pimple ball. In games where the loser got hit, the pimple ball left a fair, but painful welt. We were always unable to welt someone appropriately with a tennis ball or racket ball.
Help me find out what happened to the pimple ball!!!
I’ve tried the SDMB and search and chat areas.
My youth has been tainted.
~Phil - 33 year old guy who grew up in Philly.
Evilbeth, I couldn’t find the Royal Stafford teapot, but there is a Wedgewood Clovelly teapot for sale at ebay…
Wedgwood Creamware Bay Of Clovelly Teapot
Does that match your mom’s set at all?
There are a few Royal Doulton Clovelly items for sale there, but they seem to have an entirely different pattern and I have no idea if the Royal Doulton and the Royal Stafford would look anything alike. But I’d recommend keeping your eyes open at ebay - it seems to be a pretty good source for stuff like this.
There are a load of china replacement services on the Web, but you probably knew that. Here’s comprehensive list, in case you’re missing any. Good luck!
About a Calvin Tee-I think you can get kits to make shirt transfers from pictures on the net.
I wish there was a site, about Royalty in history, with (from 1840-1946), and there would be pictures about every single one…no matter how obscure.
Suggest your friends check with the sites that manufacture the drugs they use. Most of these have a program to supply drugs free, or at a discount, to people in lower income groups. Many refer to the federal poverty guidelines, and I can email you a copy if you would like. When I was researching this I found that all the drugs I wanted were available - and we are talking expensive and unusual drugs in some cases. Worth checking…
Thank you to Bumbazine, Shayna and ElvisL1ves!
I have tried all the places on the list you provided, ElvisL1ves, but no luck at all!
Shayna, I have seen that piece on ebay and unfortunately, it isn’t similar to the style I am looking for. However, ebay is the place that I have put a bid in on the plate in the Clovelly pattern!
Bumbazine, I am already on about 400 lists so a few more can’t hurt! I e-mailed the address you provided–maybe they can turn something up!
I happen to know where Stephen King lives. (I found the address on the Internet somewhere, but I can’t remember where.) He lives at
If you’re thinking of driving by, don’t make the assumption that West Broadway is the western extension of Broadway. They are two completely different streets.
My virginity.
A decent darkish red leather jacket. All leather jackets on the 'net seem to be black, brown, or bright orangish red (like Harley Davidson color).
Think of Brad Pitt/Tyler Durden in Fight Club.
punk snot dead,
broccoli!
I wouldn’t mind learning about the net as well. A suppressor is easy to make, but I sure as hell woulnd’t want to try on on a real gun, a buddy and I made one once for a pellet gun that worked. Take a tube and some washers that have an ID larger than the round. Place the washers in the tube at an angle with every other one facing the other way like this / \ / \ . Theres some other crap in there as well like chicken wire (?) to help catch the gasses. Like I said though I sure as hell wouldn’t want to use one for real.
I haven’t been able to find stuff on the net about:
Balaam and the Angles a late 80 rock group.
There is only a couple of sites on Stephen Hunter, most of which are reviews.
I had a list but now I can’t remember so it must not have been too important.
