So which is worse: the assumption that all anime is about tentacle-rape and bukkake, or that all anime is like Pokemon?

I love anime. I’ve been known to watch the odd bit of hentai. Yep, I like it. I don’t know as I’d categorize it as get-off-able, but I wouldn’t say that porn is, for me, either. It can be erotic, or it can be absolute trash that you watch with your mouth hanging open.
…like that one where there were these two girls on an island and there were these brutes on the island, too, and they were stealing girls from the local resort, and when they were done with them, they would stuff them down this laudry chute thingy to assumed certain death. It was terrible! I don’t even know what that was called!
…and Teacher’s Pet. My gosh, that was bad. Fifteen year old girl, shows up at her older sister’s ex-boyfriend’s apartment after not seeing him for three years to seduce him. It actually ended with the girl having a nervous breakdown of sorts because of all the pressures on her from her family, school and such. The whole thing was just yiggy.

I love anime! It’s my preferred visual medium.
I also like hentai. There is a lot of mediocre and bad hentai out there, as mentioned above. For the record, here’s one I consider to be excellent: Hiroyuki Utatane’s Countdown (translated beautifully from the original manga [comics].)
Is hentai get-off-able? I think it’s a matter of personal preference. I’ll admit things like Countdown or most yaoi (male to male action, ex. Gravitation) series get my blood stirring, but I’ve also known a few people who like the tentacle rape/rape stuff, such as in La Blue Girl, Angel of Darkness, Cool Devices or Urotsukidoji.
If I had my druthers about it, most people would consider all anime to be less like Pokemon or general hentai and more like these excellent titles: Cowboy Bebop, Wicked City, Fruits Basket, Darkside Blues, Lily C.A.T. or Rurouni Kenshin.
These titles are well-thought out, good animation, good voice actors (very important to a great show - [and I mean the Japanese speakers here, not English dubbed- yuck!]), dark, witty, thoughtful, carefree and fun all at the right moments. None of the above mentioned were hentai or children’s shows- please keep in mind. Though, if you want a good childrens anime, look for My Neighbor Totoro, I give it 5 stars, folks.
anime is basicly the japanese word for ‘cartoon’ if there is a cartoon and it is made in japan, it is anime, (french cartoons are anime also, same word)
hentai is porn cartoons.
one is a subset of the other.
