i am confused if people considered hentai as anime and manga
“Hentai”, as I have always seen it used, refers to a specific type of animé and manga; to wit, pornographic animé and manga.
Manga being generally Japanese comics and graphic novels, and animé being generally Japanese animated cartoons.
Reviewers, critics, producers, distributors and enthusiasts will, of course, be free to not wish to discuss or to present porn/hentai together with mainstream media; and your particular country may legally restrict its availability.
As mentioned, anime and manga is just cartoons and comics. The subject matter is irrelevant to defining the medium.
Or maybe you are asking if Westerners think that all manga and anime are hentai, and the answer is, yes, lots still do. The type of person who is willfully ignorant but still loudly opinionated about it.
My impression is that the question wonders if hentai is correctly used for both types of media. People typically differentiate between a porno movie and a porno mag, but I’ve always heard people just say “hentai” without specifying whether it’s manga or anime. I never thought about that until this post.
