I get that the walk without rhythm bit is a Dune reference, but in general, what is this song about? I want to use the video (which features an awesome dance routine by Chris Walken) at an event where offensive content may not go down all that well; there’s nothing overtly offensive in the words themselves, but if, for example, it were widely-known that the song was about, I dunno, anal fisting for example, there might be a problem.
Definitely not a comprehensive answer on my part, but this is a Fatboy Slim song and one should be aware of the possibility it’s not about anything, at all.
Not that I have a clue what the lyrics mean, but we did a dance routine to this in my class at the YMCA, so it couldn’t be too offensive.
Of course, we are tap dancers so once we got going you could barely even hear the beat, let alone the lyrics.
(Now, thank goodness, we are back to '40s swing.)
my impression of the “walk without rhythm” bit is sexual in nature but very obscure and nothing serious. seems pretty clean to me.

Like most things it’s about making money not about making sense.

The lyrics are either a sample from, or very closely inspired by, The Choice is Yours, a 1992 single by Black Sheep.
The same thing occured to me the first time I heard the song. But there doesn’t seem to be any other relation beyond the “this or that” reference.
Sorry, I should have specified that I was referring to it being inspired by. It is definitely not an actual sample from “The Choice Is Yours.”
[Hoping I’m not contravening a mod decision by posting this much of the aforementioned song]
This bit’s also a Dune reference, at least from the bits I’ve read about it on the internet. Most of the song seems to be about nothing in particular, but the bits that have a ‘theme’ all seem to be dune releated. So all in all, pretty inoffensive.
Right.
" you can roll with this, you can roll with that"
“As I drift off into the night, I’m in flight”
“Organically grown, through the hemisphere I roam”
It’s about getting really, really stoned and watching Dune, but I wouldn’t worry about it.
This is a reference to the single Stinkfist by Tool, right?
Okay, I’ve just found that the lyrics are:
‘She’s a boy’s scoundrel gal’ instead of, as I heard it, ‘She’s a boy scout, no doubt’.
Now since my interpretation didn’t make any whatsoever, I’m quite happy to adopt the correct lyrics … but as far as I can tell they don’t make any more sense than the gibberish I heard originally!
Kind of disappointing, really.
(That song is really catchy, but *so *hard to understand!)
Not necessarily. These lyrics are “submitted” by random people. Unless the lyrics are printed with the CD, or available on his official website or from some other official source, these have been transcribed by someone just like you and me. Although obviously with a lot more time on their hands. I have MANY times seen lyric transcriptions that I disagree with on these sites.
