What, if anything, would get Trump's approval to drop below 30%?

This is pretty much what I’ve felt all along.

The only thing that will take down Trump into the 20s or teens is an economic crash. Even if a crash happens, let’s understand that there will be diehards who blame it on liberals. The best we can hope for is that Trumpism loses maybe 1/4 or 1/3 of his hardcore base.

In November of 2016, Americans conducted a political experiment with authoritarian populism. They will have to reach their conclusion that their experiment was a failure before they change political affiliations.

This is actually not a bad analogy.

Imagine that the country is divided into 2 camps: Michigan and Ohio State. If you’re Michigan, you’re basically jumping up and down and shouting at the TV “How come Urban Meyer isn’t fired?!” Well the answer’s obvious: Urban Meyer is winning. Ohio State feels good about their guy because he’s successful and they’re buying into that success. But the moment he becomes Mack Brown and has losing seasons, he’s toast.

And was born in Kenya after all.

Actually, the religious zealots, the ones who worship him and not Him, DO think he’s infallible.

If he ever did anything like that, he may very well have paid the clinic employees a LOT of money to keep their mouths shut (never mind patient confidentiality, and now HIPAA).

Some stories have emerged over the past couple of days about an affair he may have had while married to Ivanka that produced a child (and no, I’m not talking about Marla Maples and their daughter Tiffany). I mean, Bernie Sanders’ only (known) biological child came from a brief relationship he had after his first marriage ended in divorce, and I haven’t heard any criticism about that. Not because of his politics, but because he didn’t lie about it or try to cover it up.

I think his approval among Republicans will continue to grow… but the number of Republicans will continue to decrease.

If I’m not mistaken, President Donald Trump got more votes than any Republican candidate in history. What do you mean by “continue to decrease”?

I don’t agree. George Soros and Warren Buffet are richer than Trump could ever be, and the right hates them.

He also got the most votes against him than any Republican candidate in history. 13.3 million votes for (1.8 million more than the previous record holder, George W. Bush), and more than 16 million against.

I am talking percentages and declining numbers of self-identifying Republicans… but are you counting Russian votes in “more votes than any Republican candidate” or just American votes?

I was talking about the general election. What are you talking about? The primary? That might be explained, at least in part, by having 17 candidates running for the position. I believe that was the largest primary field in the history of either major political party as well.

In their latest poll, Gallup found more self-identified Republicans than Democrats

And Republicans are at the exact same percentage (28%) as they were just before Trump took office.

Are these “Russian votes” a figment of your imagination too?

I doubt whether an abortion would matter much. Trump evaded a question about whether he had paid for an abortion. RNC official Elliott Broidy paid for an abortion for a playmate that he allegedly had an affair with (along with 7 figures of hush money). Journalist Paul Campos conjectures that it was Donald who actually had the affair.

The point: lots of smoke, no concern among Trump’s base. I thought I recalled a good quote by Falwell Jr. regarding GOP officials having an abortion, but I couldn’t locate it.

That might shake things up a bit.

I’m confident that if Trump brought in gun control, it would destroy him.

It’s not the economy, it’s the racism. If he doesn’t appeal to White Nationalists and related scum then he has nothing.

One way Trump’s numbers would fall below (perhaps way below) 30% would be if he seduced a young female White House intern, securing a blow job or two. Next the young girl confines with an older White House staff member and the story breaks world wide. Trump then lies about the affair to Congress and the American people, claiming he never had sex with that women. Finally, the girl produces a dress with Trump’s DNA all over it. I believe his numbers would drop like a stone among Republican voters.

Cities across the USA are ablaze as Trump’s impeachment begins. Even the Republican Senate refuses to support their party’s President and votes to convict Trump and he retires in shame.

Funny how it didn’t turn out this way for Democratic President Bill Clinton. Clinton’s poll numbers actually jumped up when the blow job scandal hit.

Where were the deafening calls on the streets of America and the Women’s Liberation Movement and the MSM for his removal from office? Clinton got a blow job in the White House from a young female intern AND lied about the whole thing to Congress and the American people. And the Democratic Senate did not have the balls to convict and remove Bill Clinton from office. Disgraceful. There was a video tape of him lying! There was no question about his guilt or innocence.

If the same exact thing happened to Trump, YOU KNOW he’d be gone!

Another vote for economic collapse. Can’t go past the almighty Hip Pocket Nerve

Yeah, I mean, the surprise isn’t that his approval ratings are so high, it’s that they are so low considering how the economy looks.

I think he’d crater if he came out as an atheist. I might be wrong, but it’d sure be interesting to watch.

It’s crazy, as I’ve always said only atheists should be allowed in politics.

I think if he did come out as an atheist, his base would simply volunteer to show him the light in droves and, by the grace of their god(s), forgive him.
