WHAT IF.. Jesus was just a normal man

Yup. I believe that the only way to get to Paradise is by renouncing Heaven… thus allowing for work toward Paradise on this mortal (and only) coil.
Messianic enough for ya? :stuck_out_tongue:

IMO, YMMV, Batteries Not Included… and way off topic… so let’s stop here!

If you’re going to correct someone’s grammar, it helps to be right. In this case, you’re wrong. The use of “were” in this situation is a kind of a verb called a subjunctive, and in English it’s used when the statement is a hypothetical, contrary to fact. You could say “what if the asteroid that struck the Earth 65M years ago were twice as big?” The use of “were” here is correct because we’re talking about a hypothetical situation. When saintnobody said “was,” she was asking “what if he really was?”

I guess a better phrasing would be “What if it were proved that Jesus was just a normal man?”

This is a circular thing. If there were irrefutable proof that Jesus was just a normal mortal man, then we wouldn’t be having this discussion and there would be nothing to prove. As just a normal man he wasn’t that extraordinary. The only things he said that hadn’t been said before were those that related to his divinity, and if he wasn’t God, then those wouldn’t have been there.

Or he would have been dismissed as just another nut for saying them.
