Yes and yes, per Hersh’s account. The Saudis were aware that the ISI had bin Laden and apparently were paying the ISI for their trouble in keeping bin Laden under house arrest at the compound. And US aid to Pakistan (official and under the table paybacks to major figures) was reduced/suspended in the leadup, with the promise things would go back to normal if Pakistan didn’t interfere in the raid, and they did.
I have seen no evidence people disbelieve Uday, Kusay, and Saddam Hussein are dead as doornails, for all three with had either pics or potato phone video.
IIRC Hersh’s story was pretty much disregarded by tons of folks:

Releasing evidence early, before the nutters have time to build a theory generally works wonders. Evidence released years later in response to the baying of the CT crowd is rarely effective at quieting that crowd.
IIRC official pictures (a picture?) of OBL dead were/was released almost immediately, certainly within a week of his killing. That doesn’t seem to have done much to stop the nutters this time.

There was at least one notable fake photo that was circulated as being real in the initial days. A limited number of Congressfolks were allowed to see the actual photos, which have never been publicly released.
It doesn’t have to be years later - there are actual videos of the planes flying into the twin towers - and some people don’t even believe that.

Look there are always going to be nuts claiming all kind of stuff, but I don’t see the point in bolstering their conspiracy theories by not releasing evidence.
Imagine if the Zapruder film was seized by the government and never released, they said there is no reason the public needs to see it just trust us. Why should anyone? And sure the film being released didn’t stop a gazillion conspiracy theories, but so what? Those of us with a brain can view it for ourselves and decide.
But if nothing is released there is nothing to view.
I don’t understand why you would argue pics or video of dead Osama not be released since it won’t stop all conspiracy theories, no it won’t but so what. It will provide evidence for those with a brain to make up their own minds.

If I was in charge I would release everything so people can decide for themselves, I would not go trust me.
