Has anybody else in your family been bother?
If not, it isn’t bugs, but rather a health issue.
Well my father has. But his home has bed bugs. My brother found one on his coat but that coat came from my fathers home. I can’t think of what else it could be though. I only have this issue in certain spots. In my car or where I sleep. I’m at a complete loss.
Well I went to the ER. They didn’t do much of anything. They wrote me a perscription for some kind of advanced Benadryl (that I can’t recal the name of) which did next to nothing. They told me to follow up with some clinic but I’m not insured so they won’t even see me. I’m not sure what else to do. I get about 3 or less hours of sleep a night if I’m lucky. It’s been like this for a few months now. I’m starting to loose it… (@_@) I still haven’t seen any bugs here. No one else seems to be bothered. I must be going crazy I think.
This isn’t necessarily true. Only 30% of people have allergic reactions to bed bug bites.
The definitive answer is to hire a service that uses bed bug sniffing dogs. Have them check your home, your car, wherever you’ve slept. If you have them, a trained dog will find them. If the dog finds any, then you know you have to treat for them. Just spraying things with alcohol won’t do anything. Knowing you were exposed to them, did you not look anything up about them? Seriously, why haven’t you googled information on how to treat for them? If you left your dad’s without washing absolutely everything, or at least running everything through a dryer (130F for 20 min), then you took them with you and spread them to everywhere else you’ve slept since.
If the dog doesn’t find anything, then you know for sure it’s in your head.
And, try paragraphs. Your posts are hard to read and the longer the paragraph, the less sane you seem when you post a wall of text. Just a little fyi. You sound young. Information is your friend.
If you are playing around with chrystal meth it will sometimes gve the effects of bed bugs biting or skin crawling. You said you had been doing drugs.
Meth? No.
I’m 30, not young. I may sound a bit discombobulated do to my lack of sleep and passionate hatred for this issue I’m dealing with.
I type a wall of text cause I’m on an iPhone.
I’ve researched for hours on end. Alcohol kills bed bugs on contact. Ethyl seems to work the best.
I put everything in the dryer, after ever use, for at least 3 full cycles on the highest heat settings.
I’ve sprayed “bed bug killer” insecticide in copious amounts. I vacuum nearly every day.
Just recently, about a weak ago, I thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed my car out. I bought a 4lb bag of diatomaceous earth (food grade) and coated the inside of the car.
I removed all the sheets from the bed and coated the mattress with DE as well.
I coat myself with alcohol before I try to sleep.
However, none of the above mentioned actions have had any effect in the slightest. The issue remains. I cannot lie in the bed for more than a moment without being bitten and feeling things crawling on me.
I am at beyond a loss. The DE should have at least killed them on the mattress, if not the car. I live in Florida now. The inside of the car when left in the sun easily gets over 130. Daily.
I’ve washed my entire wardrobe countless times. Dryed it even more. I seal my clothing in plastic bags before and after every use.
(New paragraph) I cannot afford to hire exterminators or pest control. After my ex left, I lost my apartment, my job, and, well, all my friends too. She decided to start dating my best friend and thus my social circle was reduced to 0 overnight.
Considering all this mass amount of stress I’ve been through, I haven’t ruled out that this is in fact a form of physcosis. Especially since I’m the only one who seems to be plagued by these bites and I cannot see or find the insects. But I do hit bites. Little red marks that last for about a day or two. They disappear after that.
When I was in my fathers loft for a short time, there were bed bugs everywhere. The large, ladybug size, red ones. Since I’ve left that place, I’ve yet to see one.
The biting and crawling still remain. Even while I’m driving during the day (or night).
I work now as a server in a resturaunt (meh). I’ve recently stayed over night at two different places and had no issues while sleeping there.
I really can not think of anything else to do other than getting rid of the car, washing and sealing everything I have (which isn’t much. A few bags at most) and moving somewhere else.
is the biting/itching all over your body? or just parts? Like your head? Could be Lice…
Here’s a clue: actual bedbug bites in fact, last a very long time, they do not just disappear after a day or two. Also they are never the size of ladybugs. These two things indicate that you are not capable of correctly diagnosing what’s really going on here!
Take your mattress out into the blistering sun on the next really hot sunny day. Flip it over a couple of times. That’s how they get rid of bedbugs in the tropics. No spraying, nothing toxic, no cost, and it works. I doubt it will work for you, however.
I think you should see a psychologist, I don’t think your problem is actually bedbugs, although that could have been what started this episode. Get some help, sooner rather than later. And good luck to you!
You know, if you do have little red marks and the itching is driving you bonkers, why don’t you get over to an Emergency Room and lay it on the line? Show them the marks, tell them about the constant maddening itching.
Emergency Rooms are required by law to provide free assistance. In your case you are not freeloading by any means, if that’s a moral concern of yours.
Clearly, we cannot help you.
I’ve been through this, its not bed bugs, it is a psychosymptomatic reaction to stress, the stressing over it makes it worse. I had clawed sections of myself so badly they debated a skin graft to fix the damage.
I’ve seen this happen to other ppl as well. Some times its triggered by new medications, but its mostly stress and has a lot to do with hormones being off balance from the stress. best thing is look for topical itch cream (it will sooth the overloaded nerve endings) some good lotion and slather on regularly for the same reason, and focus on sorting out what is going on and just accept itch is going to be there a while, mine went on for nearly a year.(I even developed rashes) is something that is going to take either:a) vastly reducing and keeping your stress reduced or b) a long enough period of time that your body adjusts to the massive amounts of stress hormones its drowning in
now, I did get relief when a doc put me on anti anxiety meds (xanax) but they don’t hand those out so easily these days and that doesn;t always work for everyone with what I call the “my life has gone to shit” itch. worth trying IF a doc will ptrescribe.
somewhere on these boards a new thread opened as a support for mental illness, I bet if you asked there you’d get a lot of ppl coming back knowing exactly what you are talking about.
i hope things improve fot you soon
Well I’d very much like to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time out of you day to respond to, and try to help me. I really appreciate it.
I have noticed that when I don’t focus on the crawling/biting that it happens less. Since I’ve moved to warmer climates and away from the insanity that was my life my stress level has gone down dramatically. I’ve been able to make an appointment to speak with a physcologist and I hope that will help.
No, this is not correct. Emergency rooms in the US are required by law to stabilize patients in emergency situations, and they will bill you. ERs also bill at a much more expensive rate than a regular doctor’s appointment or an urgent care/walk-in clinic.
Well, it’s been over a year and I’ve yet to find a solution.
I give up.
I feel as though I’m doomed to suffer.
I have noticed if I am drunk or have smoked some weed (which the former is often and the latter is rare) i do not have this issue and can sleep well. However this is causing an even higher dependency on alcohol than I already had.
Considering I’m an alcoholic, that is not good. I would probably be able to quit drinking all together if it were not for this issue.
I have moved into a very nice apt just recently and now have a much better job. I’d say my levels of stress are down considerably yet still I am tormented by crawling and biting sensations. I went to a doctor months ago and they were of no help.
I don’t know what else to try…
(-_-)
Brown Jenkin? Have you had any weird dreams lately?
Medical advice is best suited to IMHO.
Please note that this thread was started a year ago.

Try a new doctor! The fact that the crawly feeling goes away when you self-medicate (and that you’re aware this is a psychological issue rather than a physical one) means you are a very good candidate for treatment.
i made this account just to tell you are not alone and im going through this for 2-3 years.
first, excuse my broken english but i will try to elaborate.
right now i feel these creatures over my body, and is not the first time i search for infos with no luck. is totally normal for others to think at a mental problem but i assure you is not, and the only proofs i have are the fresh marks from my body after usual night of eating my skin. i also asked myself, did various tests just to prove myself my mind is still healthy, but the marks from my body speak loud.
my problem started while i rented a room in Italy, playing to stay for few months. from the very first night there, my life turned in a nightmare. i couldnt sleep that night because i thought mosquitoes invaded the room, next day having bites on all body. same the second night and every one after. the creatures are totally invisible, running on the body and biting the skin only sometimes. i took cremes for bugs and all sorts of measures like vacuum, sun, extra washing but with no luck.
these creatures love to work at night, very very rarely on day.
months later after return to my country of origin, i took these creatures with clothes without knowing. these creatures suddenly stopped to bite for weeks and the feeling of them presence was reduced. why this happened i have not a single idea. the problem is that when ‘activated’ is a pain to live. i thought im mentally broken again and took 2 weeks at a hotel in another city with no clothes from home just to see if i suffer from this psychologically, as the bites practically stopped. heh, 2 weeks of peace and rest, no feeling nor bite.
now i just moved to a rented apartment and in my stupidity i took the clothes and everything from my house, just to infest this place and make my life a hell. they started to bite again, feeling them running for real on my body, mostly on foots. i feel totally retarded when i look for the reason behind all of this, only to always find nothing is visible. i did the worst mistake to take things from the home here and now i have no idea how to repair this, destroying these things once for all time. i could start an epidemic with no intention. i want so much to get rid of them at this house, i want to make the bite stop.
only once i found something similar ever written in english on a japanese forum by google search, the guy saying the same things like i do. but registration was closed and forum dead. is feeling ages already since im looking for a solution. sometime i just want to burn everything and you can bet i would love to do, but i have no money to repair or to buy everything from scratch.
my case is very related to the OP case and i want to know if he/she resolved anything at all or any member have at least an idea.
right now i sit i my desk and i feel these damned ugly invisible creatures on my foots, bites are coming shortly and i feel exasperated.
no replies
update: moved to a new apartment in rent while i still took all my clothes, desk chair etc
but before installing i put everything in the yard for few days. it was so cold that i couldnt resist anymore and took winter clothes inside. it was peaceful for one week, no feeling nor bite. after that it started again. the way these things multiply is unreal. i’m writing this now with a tear in my eye and with body vanished of bites in case anyone confronted with success these creatures. i would sell my kidney to have the necessary money to left everything behind and start from scratch. tooooo much time have passed since i’m being eaten alive. either part end is near, hopefully will be these shit invisible things:mad:
What you and the OP have been through sound maddening. I hope you manage to find relief sometime soon.
