What is a Fresno salad, really?

If I were to ask order a Fresno salad in a restaurant, most people in the world would look at me with a quizical raised eyebrow. But there are apparently a very few exceptions in the world: according to exactly two online menus that Google can find, I would get… something.

It is worth noting that neither of these places are in Fresno.

The menus don’t specify what I’d get. But I would rather find out without travelling to someplace that isn’t Fresno, and ordering God knows what.

If you’re curious about what has compelled me to ask this question, I can reveal it. But for now, I choose not to because knowing why I ask is even less interesting than wondering why I ask. I promise.

Well, Fresno has a lot of fruits and nuts.

Apricots and almonds, particularly.

And my in-laws.

Thanks! I now know never to order a Fresno salad… at least until I have successfully changed the consensual definition of a Fresno salad to:

INGREDIENTS - 8 oz. sirloin steak, fresh guacamole, cheddar, ~1/2 pint peppercorn ranch dressing, served over standard salad greens (lettuce, red onions, tomatoes (not essential)). Found first in the Frez and never duplicated successfully anywhere else, AFAIK.
