Thought I would keep this in the same thread. I have a question for all you make-up experts. I rarely wear any make-up myself, but sometimes I do like to paint myself a little.
I have very dark, big, round eyes, dark hair, very fair skin and very red lips. What color in blush would be best for me? Also, what colors for my eyes and how would I apply eye make-up to make my eyes appear less round, and more angled? I am not worried about foundation and lipstick, because I refuse to wear either.
(Written before reading other responses so as not to prejudice my reply)
The makeup looks about the same in both pictures. (But then, I know next to nothing about makeup.) It’s the hair, the dress, and the facial expression that make the difference.
My own personal preference is for the first photo, at least if I confine my attention to above the neck. I have a decided preference for women with hair, not all pulled out of the way so it looks like she doesn’t have much. And the facial expression, or the angle from which she’s viewed, or something, is more natural and informal, and much hotter, in the first photo.
Wow! This thread is an eye-opener!
Regarding the two pictures in the OP… I have always said that I like less makeup… but I also like the second picture more than the first. Reading of the amount of makeup used in the second is a surprise. (Of course, I had no way of knowing where either of the pictures was taken. ) Admittedly, if the pictures were larger, I might be able to see such things as the eyebrow detail in the second picture more clearly.
I now think that when making these judgements I may be most strongly reacting to the choice of lipstick colour. I seem to dislike lipstick that has a great value (not necessarily hue) contrast with the neighbouring skin… bright red on pale skin, for instance, or the treatment where the lips get a darker edge, or cases where the texture is markedly different (very shiny, for instance). But coral on olive skin, or even deep red on brown skin, I don’t mind nearly as much.

You pointed out something here that I wasn’t even “consciously” aware of. Yes, there is something about the angle in the first picture, the pose itself looks natural, informal, and yes, much “hotter” to me. I, too, prefer the hair. Having it all pulled back tightly in the second photo just does not look natural to me.
