I feel I am displaying shameful ignorance here, but I plead my relative newbieness: what is a sock monkey?

A Sock Munkey is a poster here. A sock puppet, on the other hand, is an alternate identity created to provide reinforcement to a weak argument, by making it seem as if another poster is agreeing with you. Those are frowned upon as well, and the creation of another username will likely result in both your usernames being banned.
No, no, Q.E.D., a sock monkey is one of these.
