This is the arial photo from a few years ago. There is an entrance across from Overlook Drive with a guard posted. It looks like a corporate head quarters, but there are no signs or logos. There are embankments and landscaping that obscures the view from the road for the most part. I am just curious.
Silly me, in Illinois, either Morton Grove or Glenview, I am not sure of which village it is in.
The front entrance appears to be on Harlem, to the west of the complex, with the circular drive. It appears to me the entry with the guard shack to the east would be the employee entrance, leading to the larger parking lots. An older, abandoned entryway appears to be down at the south end of the property, or perhaps it is still active, and just has a different pavement. But there is/was a guardhouse there as well.
The angle is wrong, I can’t see if the north building has shipping docks on the north side, but offhand, I’d guess it is a warehouse.
This is a closer look. The middle structure looks to be a rectangular pnd with three fountains. That is a very fancy set of grounds not to have a logo attached.
My sister confirms that this Kraft, where she used to work. Used to be the headquarters but now they have an even more massive compound (campus?) at Willow and Waukegan too. She says she would always get stuck parking in the lower left of the picture and it would take her 20 minutes to walk to get to her desk in the building in the top center.
Apparently the company name is displayed over the guard tower.
I believe that it is a Kraft Foods facility. See:
Thank you. I have never been able to see any logo there. Avon has a facility near there so there seems to be no signage prohibition. The grounds look lovely.
There’s no sign prohibition. Strict limits, though.
During my commute to high school (Loyola Academy, Wilmette) my carpool called this the Kraft Fortress. Those who’ve seen it know why.
That stretch of Golf east of Waukegan we called the Golf Road 500 due to the high speeds we and other motorists reached, esp in the morning. I now know what a bad idea this was because that very stretch is the tiny Village of Golf and they ticket like crazy. Strength in numbers, I guess.
I worked there for a few weeks, doing temp work.
It was over 10 years ago though.
I lived right off of Golf Road about 5 miles West of there.
WAG? Caveat emptor! Such inquiries just might trigger an investigation by Homeland Security, FBI, etc.
When I lived in Chicagoland there was a facility for the cranially challenged somewhere in the general area.
