What is full story with the "Million American March Against Fear" on Sept. 11th?

This was originally billed as the Million Muslim March but you can just imagine the sort of response that drew. The name apparently was changed back in February - along with the apparent focus - but not before all sorts of groups decided to have their own counter rallies.

Full article at link.

Aren’t you answering your own question? If not, could you please restate the question in terms of what part of the ‘full story’ you think you’re not getting?

Well if I knew that . . .

Sorry to be glib but I think it’s obvious there’s more here than meets the eye. This starts out as one thing then gets rebranded as something else apparently as the result of public outcry. I’d like a little more information from people who follow stuff like this. I obviously don’t.

How so? Reading the linked US News & World Report article and the link in there to the earlier ‘Million Muslim March’ Scheduled for Sept. 11 Reorients to Seek 9/11 ‘Truth’, it’s one nutball trying to get other nutballs to join him in a “million man march” - for which in the application for the National Mall permit cited just 1,000 likely participants.

Googling ‘Isa Hodge’ led me to this article at The American Muslim

So yeah, nutball 9/11 truthers.

I don’t mean to be glib either, but “public outcry rebrands march” sounds like a complete story to me.

Not really. More anon.

I did a little digging of my own and found this from HuffPo.

So . . . given the fact that the organizers seem to have an agenda that would be consistent with wanting to rewrite history to make it seem as if there was no Islamic/Jihadist connection with 9/11, I’m guessing their original intention (which is now rebranded subtext) was precisely that. Unfortunately they were too stupid to co-opt the even dumber teabaggers into helping them out with their asinine plan before they let the cat out of the bag. Morons.

The line in the linked article about media coverage “exploding” is nonsense. Almost no one’s covering this event, and almost no one’s heard of it. Certainly, it’s gotten zero publicity here in the DC area.

Oh, I get it. The issue isn’t over the title of the article which was about the renaming of the event, but about whether the event is legit or looney.

Which is a bit of a shame. I quite like the name of the event, and am all for having an [del]x-man (no, not X-Man. x-man. Ok, let’s try this again)[/del] n-man march against the security/surveillance state we’ve gotten because of OMG TERRISTS! An n-man* march w/ 9/11 truthers… not so many.

  • In this case, I expect n to be < 500.

Hey, don’t drag the n-man word into this.

You’ll be able to see all the tinfoil hats from space.

Likewise, I’d like to see an n-man march against terrorism because OMG SURVEILLANCE!
