Thor Heyerdahl died. And so did Ruth Fertel, founder of Ruth’s Chris Steak House. That is, hands down, Mr. Rilch’s and my favorite fine-dining place. On my monitor I have a photo of Mr. Rilch, a tiny magazine photo of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and a (used) gift card for Ruth Chris with a photo of one of their filets.
Meanwhile, three people died in Milan when a small plane hit a skyscraper, three died in Florida when an Amtrak derailed, and my nephew’s stepmother died in Aliquippa.
And last night, I dreamed that my uncle Jack died. Since he’s unhealthily overweight and drinks, that could very well happen.
And this right after Dudley Moore, Billy Wilder, Milton Berle and the Queen Mum! Are we going to remember 2K2 as the year everybody died?
