Last week I picked up a new toy… a 2006 Mustang GT Convertible. It is beautiful and I love everything about it. Except it is missing one thing that I would expect to be easy to find and replace but I’m not having any luck. Right smack in the center there is an accessory port (used to be called the cigarette lighter hole) and it doesn’t have a cover. I just want something to make it look a little more finished when not in use. Of course at the auto parts store I could get a selection of lighters… most with skulls, dice, or other light up “bling.” I just want something simple… maybe the Ford logo or a mustang, or even plain chrome or black. I’m having no luck on Google… any suggestions?
My MGB came with a cover where the radio would go. The cover is called a blanking plate. So… a blanking plug?
Lots of Google hits… all seem to be for pipe connections.
Maybe something like this?
It doesn’t appear to be an image of the actual plug, but the description sounds right.
Wait – here are Ford-specific cigarette lighter deletes.
(first two are blank plugs, #3 is an actual lighter)
This one from my previous link looks like just the ticket.
Those are perfect guys. Just curious why the last one Johnny posted says it is an upgrade for 79-04… did lighter plugs change after that?
Thanks again everyone.
Did you click on the installation instructions?
Gosh, I’m not much of a mechanic… maybe I can hire someone.
