For some reason you get Coke from all over the place here. In my town I’ve bought cans that upon examination were from Germany, UK, Canada, Kuwait, Spain, Poland and in one instance Georgia. They all tend to taste subtly different.
In California you can get Mexican Coke in many markets. It comes in a glass bottle and has an ingredients label pasted on. The ingredient you are looking for is sugar. The taste is lighter and less sweet than the corn syrup variety and on the whole just a hell of a lot better. Corn syrup as a sweetner is just vile. Diet Coke is better than corn syrup Coke.
Just had some mexican coke for dinner. It definitely has a ‘crisper’ flavor than the standard variety.
I agree with the majority here. Coke with sugar tastes noticeably better. Corn syrup also has a nasty aftertaste, which makes an American Coke taste a bit like diet colas. Of course, there are people that can’t even taste the difference between diet and non-diet colas, so I’m not surprised some can’t distinguish sugar from corn syrup.
Glass bottles are also slightly better because they keep the cola cold for longer, and because can have a special chemical coating to protect the metal.
Anyone ever see cane sugar Mountain Dew?
I get the Mexican Coke to mix with bourbon but prefer Dew for drinking plain.
