We have no hard and fast rules; generally, I tend to use the unwieldy “he/she” and “his/her”, etc.
I also think that you’ll get a much better response from this question in either General Questions or About This Message Board. - John Corrado, Moderator.
I follow the advice.
When I refer to a previous SDopper, how should I do it: s/he, s/he/his or it, its? There is no gender indication on these BB.
Usually, if the gender is unknown, as in: “As senator XYZ said …”, we use masculine: “…in his remarks…”. But in these PC times, I’m confused. Help…
The are no directions in the “Rules”. No help from Cecil, the web or the English grammar. We can’t “borrow” anything from other languages.
I suggest this: everyone here adds “f” or “m” to their handle. E.g., mine becomes Peacem. If there is no f/m ending, that person is referred as “they”, “them”, “theirs”. After all, the first person plural is common in political and scientific speech, as in: “The reforms we propose…” or “We suggest…”, although only one author can be identified in either case.
Up to you, mods!

I prefer “Male-chauvinist pig,” or just “Pig,” for short.
This is extremely wise proposition. I would accept it if it solved the problem. I’d even extend it: “hog” for males, “sow” for females. Or “dog” for males, “bitch” for females.
Peacem
I have this problem, too. Actually, I cause it a lot, as many people think that I’m female. I think the only solution is, instead of using “he/she”, use “Elmer”.
yea, mouthbreather I thought of that. I went home and talked to my SO “gee, these folks who only know me as ‘wring’ think I’m a guy. what gives?” and he started laughing up a storm talking about my assertiveness and in your face style. When I removed the frying pan from his anus, he decided he must have been wrong ***

People are silly to take such obscure handles that you can’t figure out their sex (PS: ‘gender’ is for animals, ‘sex’ for humans).
Therefore I propose that if you have to decide if it’s “he/she/it”, that henceforth we refer to them as ‘shit’ which is a fair combo of those. You’re welcome.
peace, I don’t think we can get away with ‘shit’ however, ‘sheit’ maybe be alright. Has a nice ring to it…
Animal sexers refer to the gender of an animal. People sexers refer to the sex of a person. People sexers? My doctor was one for the olympics. What a job, all day long looking at peoples genitals to see what sex they are.
