I find this odd. I’m an Aero Engineer by degree, but most of my career (spanning over 30 years) I’ve worked as an ME. In that time, I can think of only a couple of engineers who were evangelicals or who claimed to be (like the lying skeeve I shared a cubicle with for several years.) Generally, religion never came up.
I did encounter a fair number who were conservative, but for the most part I’ve worked for or as a contractor for DoD organizations, and they tend to skew to the right. But I’ve encountered my share of bleeding-heart engineers also.
I wonder if it’s a geographic phenomenon?
