What is or are Cuban links or linx?

A friend of mine asked me the other day what the expression “Cuban links (or linx)” means. I guess he keeps hearing it in rap and hiphop lyrics.

We both poked around the Internet, and found a guy named Cuban Link, but we think it has some other meaning.

Any ideas?

Nobody has any ideas?

Maybe if you could provide an example in context, even if you’re not sure of the spelling.

There was apparently an album put out by Raekwon entitled, “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.”

I was wondering if maybe it had something to do with those thick gold chains they wear, or possibly even blunts. No idea, really.

A Google search turned up a few hits. Fifteen (!?) were simply mirror sites for the same shopping page. There, under the category “Men’s Necklaces” I found three subcategories: Herringone, Cuban Link, and Two Tone.

Wading through two more pages of Google results, I found two more references to Cuban Links–each an on-line shopping reference (different than the first 15) advertising a variety of necklace.

Most of the sites had expired and I had to go in through Google’s cached links, so I don’t know what you’ll find, now.

Thanks, tomndebb. I did the same kind of searches on Google and Metacrawler before I posted the question here and got the same kind of responses. I can’t help but think, though, that there’s some other meaning to it.

Maybe not, though.

Thanks again.

I owned the Raekwon album and AFAIK there was no explanation for “cuban links”. I know it’s a type of gold chain and thought in that case it might be a fancified way of saying “Cubans”.
