How old is the subdivision? Is there any way to ask the developers where the name comes from?
Is it possible that in order to build the subdivision the developers razed a stand of trees (or “wood”) that had been growing in the “saddle” of a ridge (depression between two hills, on a ridge)? You know, if there’s anything remotely like two hills in the neighborhood, or even visible from the neighborhood, you could probably spin that into your story. You could get yourself a rep as a tree-huggin’ troublemaker with that, and then they’d never ask you to do anything for them again.
