What is the average summertime temperature of a temporary storage unit?

What is the average summertime temperature of a temporary non-climate-controlled storage unit? What sorts of items would you not want to store in a 10x10 unit like this, in August? The unit has a concrete floor and aluminum or steel walls and ceilings. It is not directly facing the outside; it is down a sort of shared hallway, which is also concreted and has a door to the outside that closes.

You’re talking about those U-Store-It facilities? My guess would be that 120 degrees Fahrenheit, at least, for a U-Store-It box in August would be a conservative estimate. Personally I wouldn’t put anything that could be harmed by high temperatures, like crayons, wax candles, musical instruments, Barbie dolls, or canned goods, in a U-Store-It. They’re basically for furniture, books, dishes, and clothes.

I wouldn’t even put furniture or books at those tempertures. (and I’m certain you’re close at 120 degrees)

What’s wrong with storing books at such a temperature?

Park your car in a shaded garage.
Come back the next day and check the inside temperature.
It’ll be about the same as the storage room.

Where are you? The answer differs between Arizona and Alaska
From your description it sounds like it has one outside wall.
In any case, what direction do the outside wall(s) face?
I’m also guessing it is a one floor building - is there anything between the roof and the ceiling of the unit?

…or ask the manager to let you hang a thermometer in one of the unrented units - preferably the one he wants you to use.

It depends on where you live. What city are you in? I had to rent a climate controlled storage unit for my stuff… I didn’t want my couch to become moldy etc. Still, the climate control unit is pretty damn hot. They probably leave the temp on 90 or something rediculous.

Yeah… if it was in my old neighborhood, you could store eggs for a week if you timed it right.
